Wanted: 76 ford denimachine

For those who don't have a clue what this is here goes: Back in 1976 when vans were getting really hot coke decided to build these neat vans with wild paint and interior was filled with coke items and levi jean material made up the walls and door panels. I always liked vans and was really excited over these vans at young age of 14. Most were built on ford chassis and maybe one on a chevy chassis. About 106 were built and most used for distributors to ride around in and advertise but 15 were given away in canada and 10 in the usa. I was able to see one at our local ford dealer when they came through with it. Sorry I don't have a good picture of one to post. This is one of those vehicles I have always wanted one and would almost give up ole blue to get one. ALMOST! Calm down Josh! Anybody know where one is I appreciate knowing about it if for sale.

Now if I could only find one of these vans, sounds like it would make for a very good trade. Seariously though, I have herd of them, but have never seen one. It would be really neet to find one. Good luck buddy.

Josh

Ive got a Zenith Black & White Television from the early 70s that covered in denim material that I'll send your way if you find one of those vans, Danny.

Found a guy who is king of these vans and has three and also a coke museum. Waiting for pictures as he is willing to sell one. He states that only 15 are left out of the 106 or so built. Nice guy into his vans like we are our pro cars. Funny thing Rick, one he wants to sell missing TV.

Found this going through some of my picture collection today. Danny I could deffinently see you cruising one of these things around, with the passenger seet full of 8-track tapes.

Danny be careful when searching online for these vans. I did a Yahoo search and found several, but on page 3 there was a site claiming to have info and several pictures... after clicking the site I can still see virtual smoke out of my PC and posting this reply with my phone! It wiped out Windows in a split second so be careful

Boy I can see myself now, LIVING IN THE PAST! ALways had a thing for vans and have had several but nothing custom like these were. Now where did I put those 8 tracks?

No problem Danny, it's the risk we take when surfing the internet. My PC repairman just left and after 90 minutes he got everything running 100% again.
There is one website of iterest I found the other night that had several pix of a Denimachine that showed up at a big hotrod rally... rusty, paint peeling and burned off in places from the sun, yet it was complete inside & out and perfectly driveable. Kinda neat to see one that didn't have very good care yet cherished by it's owner and proudly shown with it's aged patina.
Another site shows one that survived well, complete with the red & white striped awning that pulls out of the rear roof wing! Didn't know they had that feature.

I vividly remember the denimachine when they were introduced back in the '70s when custom vans were the craze.

I was at a car show at the base of the CN Tower a couple years ago and there was one there. It was in good shape and the guy was proud to own it.

I have wondered what happened to all those cool custom vans and miss my 1966 Dodge A100 short wheelbase van a lot !

I have a custom van paperback book somewhere that showed a lot of neat vans with wild interiors and airbrushed paint jobs. I will look for it.

There were cool T-shirts of that van as well.

I believe the AutoWorld magazine had a few articles and photos of the Denimachine too.

It is a blast from the past,
Darren

I owned a shaggin wagon van years ago. Cant remember the year but it was a 70s GMC short wheelbase. It was a full panel with tinted plex diamond windows in the upper rear quarters. Button tucked interior, and carpet with 6 inch padding, couch that turned into a bed, T.V. bar, all the goodies, I really miss that thing. Im really supprised these things dont show up to car shows, there has to be some around.

I owned a 66 GMC nose over van in high school. Flat black, green shag carpet, paneling, American flag mounted on the ceiling, little port hole windows on the sides. Little in-line 6 with 3 on the tree. No heat but did use a Coleman cook stove in the back. Not that I needed heat with all the babes rolling in/out.:thumb:

Man for the days!!!!!

Well after several weeks of getting re-educated on the denimachine vans and looking around at what few are for sale I met great guy who has three of them and after lots of discussing he decided to let me have one seeing how much I want one and he knew I was buying to keep so we came to agreement on price and I will be getting one soon!
