How many Criterion's are left...

Post 137

The Criterion Mike refers to in Post 137 was mine. In fact, I took that photo when we arrived at the Garfield County Court House in Jordan, Montana to take delivery of that rig in May, 1994. This is the car that is pictured elsehwere in these threads with correct wheels and tires (that I put on once we got her home) and the early life shot I posted when she was at her original home in Madison, Connecticut. This car did serve in the Capitol City fleet for awhile.

Post 131

The Metro Criterion is a 1975.

The orange & white '76 with the dual Stars of Life is the one that originally came from Bellvue, Iowa and then went on to Burke, South Dakota. It is pictured elsehwere in this thread too. I photographed this car in April 1994 when it was still in service (along with a '76 Lifelner and '74 Wayne Vanguard) in Burke. It was pretty rusty then.

Tony: My apologies for referring to your first Criterion on delivery day in Jordan, Montana as "rather tired looking"...... FYI I have properly washed my mount out with soap! I guess it was the hubcaps missing and identical color scheme and accesories that reminded me of the one we had that was even more of a (cancer) challenge than we wanted to take on. The reason why I didn't think it was Capital Cities is that their's don't seem to have the same wrapped upward orange stripe around the rear door? The resurrected version n Post #51 is BEAUTIFUL! (*) Also it appears there are many "other" Garfiefd Counties in the USA! MM

the picture 137 is car #74921 the day Tony picked it up in Mt. I know cause I was given that picture a few years ago and I have it labeled with the car number. boy your got to be a fast typer here to scoop anyone.

A Michigan Criterion, Recently Restoried

I have a recently restored 1976 in Kalamazoo, MI. I will post a couple of pictures as soon as I can figure out how to put them "up" here.

In the meantime, you can get a glimpse of it at our family site that we are just putting together. We have a matching lifleiner and a few limo's and some other interesting cars.

I can't wait to see your Criterion Mike and "WELCOME" to the site. I heard about your Criterion so I'm very excited to see it. Your link requires passwords.

If you will, I would appreciate you emailing me a picture of your Criterion and would be more than happy to post it along with any history you may have on it.

Thanks

Richard

1976 Mall City Criterion (Kalamazoo)

My thanks to Richard for assistance in getting these pictures up here -

This unit is displayed in one of the earlier threads as an all-white unit with the company name MALL CITY. It as purchased new with the LIFELINER pictured alongisde as the first two ambulances deployed by Dykstra Ambulance in Kalamazoo. I was working as an EMT at the time for Mall City and the competition between the companies eventually resulted in the purchase of Dykstra by the Mall City Ambulance owners. The units then were repainted and used on the street until 1986, when the Criterion was parked and left for dead.

The Lifeliner continued as a working unit and a back-up transport and was still driveable and garaged. It was given as a gift to my brother, another former ambulance attendant about 1994, or so. It was still white on white.

We heard the Criterion was headed to the crusher to make space for storage and we decided to ask for a chance to rebuild it. The company (now PRIDE Medical Transport) gave me the vehicle which was in the same spot where it was parket in 1986. The original color scheme (from the factory, I guess) was a yellowish gold (Dykstra).

notice how low to the windshield the siren is mounted on the white one. I thought I was the only one that did that.

What's the story (if known) on the Guardian parked in the shadows? MM

Paul Steinberg asked the same question. I'm hoping Larry Dirks might be able to shed some light on it since he provided the picture.

Now Sarah, don't get all excited and sure this Guardian is long gone by now. :stop:

Guardian Survivors?

I know this thread is dedicated to CRITERIONS..... but I was curious if there ANY KNOWN GUARDIANS still around?...... and (2).... are there any Senior PCS Members that remember any being in-service and where? THX-MM
