I forgot to mention that this picture was taken during the St. Patrick's day parade in 1970. The FD taped Fire Fighter Tony posters to the doors as a PR move. 1970 was the year Chicago received a grant and was awarded Superior Pontiac high tops and also bought some Ford Econoline Vans converted by Superior. In 1970 fewer Cadillacs were purchased then normal. Because of Superintendent Quinn Chicago continued to purchase Cadillacs convert by M&M until 1973

Bruce: Great to see how it is progressing and that you are reproducing a piece of local history. Please keep the updates coming.

your paying those guys to much . if they can afford to swing by dunkin donuts for coffee. be one more sharp one for your collection when it's finished

got to thinking that car was this one right?

Thats is the one. We refer to this car as the gulch car, because we picked it up in a gulch. It is funny how that car got around, Midwest Professional Car Services, a M&M Dealer in Chicago, sold that car new to Romeoville IL Fire Department. Steve Loftin posted a picture of it in the Classy Caddy post. Somehow, the car end up in an Indian reservation in South Dakota. When I first got the car it had equipment and paper work that was marked Chappaqua Fire Department and Suagerties Fire Department. Bob Hedges worked for Midwest at that time, his business card was in the owners packet of the original sale to Romeoville. Now the car is back in Illinois just proves that this is a small world.

Look real close at the "action shot"

I have another photo of the same unit, taken shortly before the action shot. Mine shows the ambulance sitting unattended, with roof lights working. The Chicago Police Dept had written several PARKING TICKETS and put them on the windshield!!!!...........the "action shot" appears to be taken just after the Fire Dept saw the parking tickets on the windshield....................?

A number of the (casino funded) Indian Reservation Fire Departments here in Southern CA have adopted the Chicago "Black over Red" Color Schemes. No Green RS Lights yet though! MM

QUOTE=Pat Post;83110]I love the simplicity of the roof line. Those colors look great on it![/QUOTE]
