1969 Chevrolet Suburban M-M

Sentinel A/C- with or without?

To my knowledge Wayne didn't stock any of these chassis with factory air. They stocked 1/2 and 3/4 ton Suburbans with no A/C and used aftermarket air when needed.

If desired, a customer could special order one with factory air.

I just remember the heater box being flat on the firewall if there was no AC. The 70 was the only one I had with factory air.

As I understand it, normal factory A/C in this era Suburban was ducted through a roof mounted arrangement that exited above the rear doors. There were no dash vents unless you ordered the A/C with the non-RPO option code 9947AA - "A/C Conversion" which brought it in thru dash vents similar to those used in the pickups. My 1971 has this code on the SPID label and the dash vents as well as the plumbing that goes thru the partition and into the aftermarket Mark IV A/C in the rear compartment.
