Default Welcome_Hotel Information

Welcome to the 38th annual Professional Car Society International Meet information thread! Beginning today, this is where you will find updated information and details regarding this year's meet, which will take place Tuesday, August 12 through Saturday, August 16 in Rochester, Minnesota.

This meet, "RESPOND TO ROCHESTER!" is being hosted by the PCS Northland Chapter, with my wife Kim and I serving as Chairpersons. We have planned what we feel will be a fun, relaxing, enjoyable, and educational time for you in an area that is metropolitan enough to have ample amenities, yet rural enough to let you experience beautiful country lifestyle. And what a better place to bring your professional car than to an area with miles and miles of easy 2-lane country touring and lack of traffic congestion!

The city of Rochester is known for it's rich Medical significance and history, as well as many other attractions and opportunities. Between the activities we have planned for you, the opportunities you'll have to explore the area on your own, and our ongoing tradition of warm Northland hospitality, we are confident you'll find "RESPOND TO ROCHESTER!" well worth attending. As I have said many times before, we do not take for granted those who take the time and incur expenses to attend our meets; our mission is to make your Northland experience great so you'll want to keep coming back to play cars with us!

To get us started, here is the hotel information and a general overview of the week's activities. I will follow up with subsequent detailed posts outlining each day's activities and a master registration form. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel welcome to contact me either by telephone: (612) 325-2344 or email: kars971@aol.com

So, if you want to get out into the country, kick back and enjoy some down-home hospitality while enjoying those professional cars the way they were intended to be, then plan to join us as we "RESPOND TO ROCHESTER!"

To learn more about the city of Rochester and it's offerings, I've included a link to the visitor's section of the city's website: http://www.rochestercvb.org/

HOST HOTEL INFORMATION
Our headquarters host hotel is the RAMADA HOTEL & CONFERENCE CENTER, very conveniently located just off Hwy. 52 at the 16th Street SW exit. The hotel has all of the comforts and amenities that we seek in a PCS International Meet headquarters including recently renovated guest rooms, ample parking for our large vehicles, business center, large meeting spaces, and indoor pool area with waterslide and whirlpool. Many options for food and beverage are just steps away. For that matter, basically everything in Rochester is just a short distance away with such simple navigation, you won't need to worry about losing your way back to the hotel!

A block of rooms has been reserved for the meet at a special rate of $94 (plus tax) per night and includes continental breakfast. Please make reservations directly with the hotel by calling (507) 289-8866. If you call between the hours of 8 AM and 5 PM CST, you are most likely to actually speak to someone at the hotel, rather than being transferred to the main reservations center. Either way, if you have any difficulty making a reservation, please notify me right away and I will assist you.

Default DAY 1_Tuesday, August 12, 2014

I'd like to begin introducing the specific day-by-day agenda to you for this year's PCS International Meet, so we'll start with Tuesday, August 12. This is what we consider the "early bird" day. We have planned a light schedule with an enticing activity.

For those traveling long distances, we'll give you additional travel time in the morning. For those who already arrived, you'll have time to sleep in or explore Rochester.

At 1:00 PM, we will depart the Ramada Hotel & Conference Center via professional car motorcade, en-route for the "Man Cave" of Mr. John Perkins, former owner of Gold Cross Ambulance Service. Beginning at 1:30 PM, John will present to you "The First 32 Years of Gold Cross" a detailed , historical accounting - with photographs - of the challenges and progresses lived daily in the early years of this Minnesota-based ambulance service.

John's "Man Cave", a combination office and garage suite, is sure to contain memorabilia and vehicles of interest. Light refreshments will be served. There will be no charge for this activity.

There is not a formal, group meal planned for this day, so take advantage of the opportunity to grab some of your favorite cuisine. A restaurant list and map will be provided in your registration portfolio.

Those of you who have attended our Northland Chapter meets know that we are famous for packing a lot of activity into short periods of time; basically giving our guests maximum value for the visit. In other words, impromptu side trips, vehicle and guest appearances, etc. are not beyond us.

In the meantime, here's a little teaser for what John Perkins will have to show you:

A message from the Scanlan's:

"My name is Brenna Scanlan. My husband Brian and I own Red Barn Learning Farm. We envisioned a place where we could make a living doing something we were passionate about, while also enriching the lives of others. We believe that raising our family in the country alongside our animals, garden and fresh air is incredibly fulfilling. Our kids benefit from the empowerment of caring for animals and growing their own food. We can't wait to share all this with you!

The Scanlan family would like to welcome you to our cozy acreage just SW of Rochester, MN! The Red Barn Learning Farm is a destination that your kids will talk about for months to come. Come climb in the silo, jump on the straw bales in the barn, cuddle with a farm kitty, drive our pedal tractors, pick your own vegetables, and visit our large variety of barnyard animals. We can't wait to see you at the farm!

Cost for the Barbecue is $5 / person.
