coach builder badges: a photo reference

Been thinking about this thread for some time, although most of the shots I have saved are on a different computer. I implore each of you to post closeups of exterior metal badges or interior plastic badges along with the year.

When did Superior switch from interior crests to using the SC rectangle? What are the differences between Eureka's earlier and later script logos? You get the idea. Ultimately, enough gaps should fill to provide a wonderful reference not published in any procar book. May even have rare logos posted along the way~

Now go take pictures of what is in your garage or out back! :thumb:

McPherson's Superior book illustrates all of the corporate logos used by the company over the years. These are shown on the chapter lead pages. I believe that the stylized SC logo was introduced with the 1961 models. Miller, Meteor, Cotner-Bevington and Miller-Meteor corporate logos are also depicted in McPherson's M-M book. In fact, he illustrates most company logos in his various builder-focused books - Flxible, Superior, Henney, Eureka and M-M. The Eureka script emblem/logo was used from the early post-war years (about 1947) right through to 1964 and made in various sizes. The Canadian Eureka replicated the originals and used them for several years before introducing a new style in about 1983.

Keith, I state book (singular; not plural). Not everyone owns (or has access to) each of the wonderful McPherson offerings. Hence, photo references in one spot.

No need to kill a little fun while engaging the community. And Superior may have debuted that SC logo but as recently shown, I found it in a '60. All part of what makes our cars interesting.

The elusive S&S hood ornament:

Ed,

Thanks for posting the '57 National script. I always thought that the script stayed the same through out the years. But after comparing the '57 to the '51 years I now see that there are definitely some obvious differences. Since National infor is hard to come by this really helped.

1967 M-M, appears to be the same through at least 1969:

This M-M Badge was used from 1957 till 1971. The story behind the badge was it was a Wayne Works logo (W-W) that some one dropped and flipped to make the logo for the newly formed Miller-Meteor (M-M) Coach Company line formed by Divco-Wayne in 1957 with the merger of Meteor Motor Car Company of Piqua, Ohio and the A. J. Miller Coach Company of Bellefontaine, Ohio! This is what was told a few years back during one of the Miller-Meteor Reunions.

the only other nationals I have are a 52 and a 58
