A Blast From The Past

As I was looking through some back issues of The Professional Car magazine, I saw a few pictures that you might enjoy. I hope nobody minds that I took pictures of the pictures that appeared inTPC 121, with photos originally taken by our own Gregg D Merksamer.
The pictures were taken at the Northeast Classic Car Museum located in Norwich New York in early 2006. Several Northeast Chapter members ambulances were on display for an exhibit entitled Red Lights and Sirens. In the pictures are a one of one 1941 Lincoln ambulance owned by the AACA Museum, a 1955 Studebaker Ambulet owned by member Jeff Beyer and a 1949 Flxible Buick ambulance owned then by Lucille and Bill Marcy.

I'll bet you wish you kept that one, Bill!

My wife absolutely loved this ambulance and she wishes we still had it. I loved the car too, but not as much as she did. This car now lives in a fire truck collection owned by a man in Williamsburg, Va and last time I spoke with him, he told me that his kids are fighting over who will keep it, when he is gone. I think it is in good hands.

Well the Studebaker was originally owned by a fire company in my Township, the Erwinna Pa. Co. One of the guys who ran it told me when someone as tall as me had to be transported they had to run with the tailgate open. It was replaced by a new 69 Superior Cadillac.

So, about 30 so far, as best I can remember.. Some of these cars were not long term ownership and a few were flips. But, I actually owned and in most cases, enjoyed most of these cars. Currently, I am looking for the next professional car.

WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I had some nice cars, but there were a few nightmares in there too. I bought my first professional car in 1976, it was a stunningly beautiful black 1966 Fleetwood limousine, I had a passion for professional cars, even at age twenty. My second was a mint condition 1968 M-M limo-style combo in Chestnut Brown with tan interior, this was in 1981. I can tell you that these were two really nice cars.

Well the Studebaker was originally owned by a fire company in my Township, the Erwinna Pa. Co. One of the guys who ran it told me when someone as tall as me had to be transported they had to run with the tailgate open. It was replaced by a new 69 Superior Cadillac.
When I was talking with the original driver of my Studebaker Ambulet, he told me that "tall fellows, they could bend their knees to fit in. But one really tall fellow, we had to leave the back window open so he'd fit."
