?Proto RESCUE jack set

Forgive me, I based the post on the remaining slip decal on the box. Truthfully I'm not sure what was in the "Rescue" case as opposed to the industrial jack or shop offerings.

Sawzalls run from the "SAFE" DC generator from Civil Defense & K-12 saws were the zenith back then, and it also wasn't uncommon for a Trooper to drive to the junk yard to escort the big loader back carrying a cutting torch either.

And then along came the Jaws. They pretty much replaced everything else in inventory, and proved to have a long use life, after enough chickens and pancakes were sold to buy the Jaws.

The era left scars of if only we could have, and good memories of men who understood the task at hand and how to accomplish it with what we had. I'm uncertain those skills remain today in the inventory of firemen who only sort of remember what they supposedly learned in training, and can't tie a knot to save their azz.

Tools can only complement the man using them.

Tried to buy - but would have to ship to TX. Seller was unfriendly and seemed to believe I was trying to “scam” her...

It’s a nice piece and would like to have it in the NMCD collection, so if anyone’s local and can get it, let me know.

Having been in the towing business for too many years before hanging up the chains. A guy had run his car under the back of a loaded 40 foot trailer on a narrow back road. Trapped inside they called me and the 750 Holmes to the scene to do a lift off. The EMTs were scared they were going to loose the guy. The road was narrow with a deep ditch on each side no way could I back in and not risk the wrecker sliding off into the ditch an possibly overturning. Everybody was on me to do something. I stood there and then it hit me I walked back to the truck got one of the old valve caps that would remove a tire valve got the fireman busy letting the air out of the tires while I backed in behind the car in the middle of the narrow road and slowly and carefully winched the destroyed car driver in it out from under the trailer. They got him out and yes he made it. There was a lot of that in the old days now it just get out the rescue truck hydralics and bend and twist better in the long run. The Local volanteer Squad was manned by everyday folks who wanted to help minimal training lots of dedication. The best was the local Funeral Director who would only drive the Superior Cadillacs no patient contact. I asked him WHY? one time. Answer "Well I think it would be very demoralizing for someone to wake up and find me bending over them".

Little over an hour from me, but I might have somebody going close who can pick it up if you want it. Not sure if Fastenall will carry it to you, if you have that available. Might have to box & strap to a pallet for them.

Give me a couple days to wangle.
