Let's start with these:

1962 - Rotterdam, NY
1964 - Eagle Mills, NY

I think the short car is MUCH better looking (and proportioned) than its long-wheelbase brother!

1959 National/Lincoln ambulance from NJ

It's not a combination, but it sure is rare! This clipping, via Walt McCall, is from the October, 1959 issue of Casket & Sunnyside magazine.

Just when we think we've seen 'em all...!

1959 Memphis/Mercury ambulance

Based on a station wagon, it was originally two-tone blue and owned by the Tulsa-Whisenhunt F.H. in Tulsa.

Here are photos of her after she was acquired by her second owner, the fire department in Anadarko, OK. The front lights are Propello Rays and the whistle is a Sterling #20. The first photo was taken about 1972 on the station ramp. The second photo was taken during a 1974 drill, showing their then-new Suburban by Modular Ambulance Corp.

1959 Memphis/Mercury - Part II

By chance, I was sent these photos a few years ago of a car in a Bakersfield, CA junkyard...it's the Anadarko car!

1962 Ford ambulances

Here's an ACC Amblewagon and Siebert Aristocrat, both of which began their lives as station wagons.

1962 Siebert/Ford flyer

Add a sedan lead car and a wagon flower/removal car, and you'll have a matching fleet!

We know at least one of these was built. Sold on eBay a while back, it was a limousine-style endloader that served a small Minnesota town.

It is amazing how these cars moved around the US from their original place of service. Looks like there is still enough of it there to resurrect it into a nice ambulance again... :myopinion:

National Ford

This '66 National Ford was from the Newton, IA Fire Dept. 3 on the tree, standard steering and brakes, no A/C. Rare partition for a short wheelbase car.

The man that sent the photos said that many parts from the car (except the engine, of course!) were stacked in the patient compartment. Typical story: The previous owner intended to restore it but lost time, interest, space, and/or money...pick a reason, any reason!

She's not unique; here's another '59 Mercury by Memphis:

I wonder if Siebert actually built any of those 1962 Ford formal limousines?
That's just the sort of thing I would go for. The rendering reminded me a lot of the big but basic Chrysler Coronados that were built for overseas diplomatic duty. Imagine a 1962 Dodge Dart where the front half four-door sedan has been mated to the rear half of a two-door sedan on an extended wheelbase with a second set of square doors in between. Many years ago in Brooklyn, went to look at something similar based on 1961 Plymouth components. I was in school and had no place to park it, alas, and no clue if it was a Coronado a possibly a creation by Memphian or National.

A couple AHA Lincoln limos. Not sure about the first, but the second is a 72.

I'm sure this was a real powerhouse with the optional Perkins four-cylinder Diesel:

The '60 and '61 shown are nice looking, well-proportioned cars. I'd like to have one the '61s (listed as a '62); they're my favorite year of Plymouth. Bob Monaghan is/was a Philadelphia funeral director and PCS member that dabbled in used procars over the years. He had one of the '61 Plymouths in his garage when I visited there in 1982.

Pulsator

John, Federal offered a Pulsator version of the Q2B back in the early to mid '60's. I have only seen a couple of them......this one on the Siebert Ford, and another one on a '63 C/B Olds in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Here is a great photo of this siren, courtesy of PCS member Peter Adsten.

A couple more Lincolns. A 60 Limo that I would kill to find one like it, and 2 flower cars. The last one was for sale, but i can't remember where i found it.

IIRC, that thoughts-of-murder 1960 is a Hess and Eisenhardt conversion. These were very low-production, non-stretched jobs and were made in both limo and sedan guises in both '59 and '60. This is the 1st one I have seen with landau bows.
