Windshield Ident Numbers..?

Hi, been trying to track down a new windshield for my '87 S&S Victoria for about 8 months now (had 2 delivered, both wrong..) Really great help through here (thanks Harry). Contacted Guardian Glass and they have one.. still waiting for a price.. Now the question is has anyone got a way of decoding the details of the screen (hopefully should have a picture to look at) so I can triple check it's the correct one? Please note, I'm in the UK...
So getting one is somewhat challenging. Thanks everyone.

Sorry can't upload ident pictures here for some reason, so I've put a link in to the Hearse Space website, look under top members please, I should be in the top 20.

we went around over this a ways back. not a lot of useful information in them, if your talking about the manufactures stamp in the lower courner. mainly the name of the co making the glass the date of manufacture and the type of glass. never the NAGS number whitch is what you need . the one you need is the commercial glass and if you run a search of the web site the NAGS number has been posted a few times. I'll see if I can bring it up.

no luck I don't have a book that new. and the newer numbers have not been posted or added to the older posting. we quit here at 76. if no one else has it I'll look it up monday for you.

Some of the 87s did not use commercial glass. Also, is the car a rear wheel drive or front? This will also make a difference in what you need.

here from his website is Andy's car anyone know the NAGS number for this glass?

Paul Steinberg;42873]Call Al Smith at Pilkington Classic Glass..

Hi contacted Al Smith some weeks ago, and he can't help, he only pointed me at Accubuilt. The Nags number is what I've been trying to get for months now, I do have a contact at Guardian, who is really helpful, but the Nags number would identify the correct part, as I've had two sent complretely wrong. I'm now a site supporter (wondered why I couldn'tupload..!) so I'll try and upload a picture. Thanks guys. p.s don't forget I'm in the UK... and we are about 5 hours ahead of you... ringing is difficult.. and expensive.

oops, the pictures massive... I'll get the hang of this darned computer yet...

shaded glass (dark band on top) made by guardian (OK company I think there part of Gm) in 2004 (year of manufacture). they do there glass runs in large batches. and don't do another till suppliers run low. I'll get down down and get you the NAGS number this morning. the script is the given laws it is covered by. it's all like the sign on the truck doors. don't tell you nothign but covers the ownes butt. I would supect tey would use a diferent numbering system in GB . but the nags number will let them convert at least.

the book lists 87 hearse with a raised roof as a NAGS 1215. or at least the computer down to the locale glass shop said that.

Thank you John..

Thanks John - the info is much appreciated, it should still be the same nags over here, as in the States. touble is my "specialist auto glass" supplier based in the UK broke the first windshield upon arrival in the UK (after waiting 3 months) and the second one arrived wrong. I sent all the pictures with a tape measure on ,sizes, vin:number, engine size, said it's fwd, and asked them to triple check before sending it from their US plant, and it was still wrong!

An update to the windshield saga... still not sure this is the correct one.. however, contacted Guardian Glass, and found a really helpful guy. I've sent all the sizes of the windshield, vin: etc. pictures with me holding a tape measure on, and he confirmed $750.00 + crate. Still waiting for a crate size and weight, for my local import agent to work out a price to deliver to me. I've asked for a pro-forma... and got a work in progress sheet... BUT it says on Hearse, superior coach..? has anyone ordered In the States direct? how did you get on, and do you think this will be correct for my Cadillac? It's a 1987 cadillac S&S Victoria 29" tall + 60" wide with a blue/grey shaded tint. I have tried to get Guardian to triple check, however I can see me getting this and it's still wrong. what do you think? I have asked them to check sizes but haven't got any confirmation...

So the question is, .... is the S&S windshield the same as a Superior..?

Can anyone please check for me in the States... Thanks.

I live in the UK, so it's a loooong way to send it back.

Thanks everyone

the superior and the S&S use the same glass. when we looke dit up they had it listed as a raised roof or stand roof. is your getting one for the raised roof it will be right.

Thank you John, It's much appreciated, checking it out - it's going to cost somewhere in the region of $1,800 - $2,000 to get this to me, by the time I have paid shipping, import duty, VAT (another government tax..!) but that's the way it is... pity I don't live in the States as I'm watching another one similar to mine on eBay, and the current price is only $890.00 complete..! (it does have a few days to go however)

Pilkington glass is an English based company, I believe, and possibly they could order it for you and have it shipped directly to a local warehouse in England with their regular stocking order. That might save you a lot of expense.

Hi Paul... thought of that myself, contacted Pilkingtons and they don't do them... this is what they said:

"Andy,
Sorry to hear of your dilemma. We don't carry that glass in Pilkington.
I believe your best effort will be to contact the coach builder for your
car which is Accubuilt 2550 Central Point Pkwy. Lima, Oh. 45804 The
phone # to the parts dept. is 419-998-8638.
Give them your VIN & they can tell you everything about your coach.
Good Luck,
Al"

accually contacted Accubuilt, and they passed me onto a Brad Benedict, he then passed me onto a chap called:
Cliff Burns(CliffB@infiniteinnovations.com) and the windshield hunt came to an end.

I seemed to be plagued by people not really wanting to get involved with sending a windshield abroad, except for Guardian, who have been really helpful (but expensive..!)
worth mentioning Paul, thanks.

p.s if you think of anything else, please let me know.

Andrew.
