post-auction procar foraging

After Breisch turned out being a wash, a friend and I thought best course would be to take time meandering secondary roads back and see what we could find.

'72 S&S Victoria endloader. Too far gone to restore and price received on whole unit was too high. Plan is to return after it is moved and more accessible to strip of usable parts. Darryl already claimed front bumper, grille, and side trim for Wellsboro. Heh.

There was also an '81 S&S 6 door limo on property. My friend bought perfect front & middle black door panels off it as armrests are the same used on hearses.

'63 Superior Royale limo style combination. Coach had been refurbished 6-7 years ago. Engine, transmission, and brakes were fresh. Even had new paint. Little fuzzy on losing storage/divorce/new wife not approving/whatever transpired but it has been hemmed in the back of a friend's fenced in business yard since '08 neglected. That guy wants it off his property and says owner would sell. Haven't reached owner yet.

Only (flat) driver's door glass was cracked, rest was good. Both front lower bumper ends have rotted out - and that passenger side carries a doozy of a price tag to find. Both front doors and rear loading door have rot along bottom edge, rear side doors do not. Hood is shot and not reusable, another piece not easy acquiring. Sills, rockers, fender doglegs, etc. were all solid. Driver front floor has been replaced and I didn't crawl underneath to see how well that job was done. Interior appears complete and original. Paint will pop once again after buffing.

Curious to find out how much owner will want. He obviously spent $$$ before leaving it sit. For someone in market for a pre-'65 coach, this can still be a good starting point, even if being a 'common' model. I feel $3k-$3500 would be a solid price with (eBay) value being a couple grand more.

Successfully tracked down lead on a "'32 Packard" which ended up being about a twenty year newer Senior. Nobody was home, so didn't trespass for closer look. Couldn't tell if endloader or combination.

Very vaguely recall this coach on CL within last year for cheap, like $400. Couldn't put enough pieces together if it was indeed same Henney, if seller or if buyer. As you can see it doesn't appear to have been parked in this pasture too long.

My friend also collects prewar wooden radios. Visiting someone we were told has "some" turned out being entire trip's saving grace. He managed to buy 13 radios and 4 TVs (including 2 Philco Predictas). This is but one semi trailer of 'stuff' on property.

Managed to score a box truck load from a black FH (which isn't easy): 6 caskets (2 new, 3 late '50s NOS never out of shipping crates, and vintage satin child's casket), '50s Washington Mortuary gurney, '50s NOS casket handles, vintage service car wreaths, and an early 1900s Superior Funeral Supply jack in the box maroon & gold backdrop.

Claims are already in on both new caskets and gurney. Backdrop is NFS.

Seeing a '95 Eagle flower car was a genuine treat. FD allowed me to pour over details and open doors taking pics. Needs cosmetic help and fingers crossed he'll consider selling. I'm not the only one that would love owning a '95-'96 commercial chassis flower car!

Coach was sitting low with this load of Federal 284s that were VA State Trooper takeoffs in late '80s. Most (not all) will need a speaker. PM for details.

By time I finally made it home a package was awaiting. Couple more Superior emblems had arrived. 9 out of 10 that I typically find are cracked or badly crazed. These 3 are intact. Few PCS members have asked in past about finding them, so here they are. Available.

My own Crown was missing a single interior emblem when acquired. Guess I've been cornering market since, buying 'em up. Including those still in coach...up to 13. :D

Not interested in selling any.

Second half of trip was definitely better than first half. Felt good diverting attention while focusing away from that hellacious auction.

I'm pretty fond of that '63 actually, just wish it was closer to me! And how cool to find all those State Trooper lights...funny to see where some things end up
