those of us that have a 71 to 75 CB know o this problem. the strikers are welded to a plate that is put on the pillar with the slotted holes for adjustment. everthig is great till the plastic sleeve on the striker wears out. now how to change that with the striker welded in place.
by trial and err I discovered a #10 copper wire is the same thickness as the plastic sleeve. to if you remove any that remains and with the help of a pair of pliers wind it around the peg it will do the same task as the plastic. this will restore your striker so it operates as intended. a extra safety maser is to solder the winding together to keep them in place. wind them tight but don't have any extra sticking up. kind of like this
