i wonder if those are too large for my 58 Olds Ninety Eight? I know that 14 inch whitewalls are near impossible to find

The original tire for the 1958 Olds was a 8.50 x 14. I don't know what the optiional tire size was. In 1959, the Olds 98 went to a larger 9.00 x 14 tire. Depending on the width of your rims, these tires might work. I am only guessing, however, based on the load range and size, I would be inclined to think that these tires were originally for a commercial chassis car.

they mixed the numbers up quite a lot. i remember the spare in the '67 Olds as being a 855-890. I do know were there is a new set of Mohawks WW some were in these sizes. but I'm not going any were this summer.

I did a lot of tire research when I was restoring my '59 Comet Olds. As Paul pointed out, 8.50 X 14 was standard on the basic Oldsmobiles of that year. However, 9.00 was an optional upgrade on these models. The stationwagon listed 9.00 as standard, wiith 9.50 being optional. Based on this, my guess is that the 9.50 should also fit on a '58. I tried to get a set of 9.50's for my car, but no one is making them in 14's anymore.

If anyone is actually determined to find the correct size for their car, then there is only one alternative. Find a truck tire that has the same diameter, and then send them to Diamondback to have the white walls installed onto the tires. It isn't going to be cheap, but it will look right for your car.

glad you coming around to my way of thinking. the big problem is getting a 15 inch truck tire that's a 31 in diameter and 8 ply.

Still available. I also have a NOS(still wrapped) set of five 9.00-14" tires with a 2-1/4" white wall.

not a lot of pro cars with 14 on them. these are late 50's to mid lat 60s GM and a trip to e-bay might move them quickly.

Ed,
Quite a few PCS members have other non-pro cars as well. I just don't want to get a bad wrap for not offering things to PCS member first.
