Does anyone know what this cubby hole is for?

Found this while taking photos of the oxygen cylinder bracket in my 1968 M&M Classic 48. Its behind the passenger side front seat. The fabric cover is flipped up out of the way. This is the back of the equipment cabinet.

There was a similar one in the same location on my 1971 M&M Volunteer.

Not sure what this was for. No openings in the space other than what you see in the photo, so not for a radio.

I don't remember seeing these in the M&M Lifeliners that I worked in.

in truth I did not pull the cabinet out of the 69 but I will bet if you reach into it and feel around you will find a tab and a screw for the rear wall. the only way to put it in in the blind void is to have a access hole. it's covered but the spare tire drape so no one sees it.

I stashed some cash in there, but so far, Ed hasn't acknowledged finding it... :2gunsfiring_v1:

so that was what that mouse nest I blew out was made from. I wondered. I had to go down and look it just a neat cuby hole into the void. one more of the thank yous from MM. I think I'll put that registration in there now that I have found it again.
