Buying time waiting for the real red insert. Looks pretty good for parade distance...

In Pontiac circles, that is known as the "arrow head". My 1967 Pontiac one was originally made of metal, and partially through the year, they changed to being made of rubber. The metal ones kept getting knocked off by cars backing into the front bumper where it protruded.

In Lafayette

The local Pontiac dealer was Louisiana Motors, and it was situated on a "point" of intersecting roads which became known as "Pontiac Point". Interestingly enough, it is located just down from the paint and body shop that did my body work in old Lafayette.

I am having difficulty uploading more pictures, including one of the paint used on this piece.
