1970 Superior Pontiac Consort Ambulance $8500 Offer

All of you probably know all about this car, as I have written extensively about it on this forum. I would like to see this car stay with someone here, who understands its rarity and would like to preserve it. I am open to an offer, I might even consider an interesting trade.

I bought this car from Bill Beetschen about a year and a half ago. I want to be honest and tell you everything I know. I don't want anybody being disappointed.

The Good
The car has a good running 6.6 liter engine, transmission is working properly, slightly noisy rear end at 55 and above, brakes and steering are power and work properly, emergency lights and siren work. I spent $4k for some rust repair and a base coat/clear coat paint job. The interior is good.

The Bad
The paint needs to be sanded and buffed. Air conditioning not working. Engine compartment needs detailing. Headliner needs replacement. The speedometer works, the odometer does not. The biggest issue is a weld on the frame using Diamond Plate and I do not know why it needed to be welded.

The car is really a decent driver quality/parade car. Sure, it has some issues, but it is a car that runs and drives well and looks decent. Before I spend any more money on it, I am willing to let it go to a good home. I will consider a sincere offer, or even some sort of a trade. Send a PM, if you are interested.

Most likely, it is a junction box to hook up a charger to keep the battery charge at its proper level.
 
The inverter changes 12 volt DC car battery to 120 volts AC so you can power equipment. We have several in stock removed from newer Ambulances. They are usually mounted behind the front seat under the squad bench or in the case of newer units in a low compartment behind the drivers seat.
 
Info Update

I have polished the car and it looks better, not perfect. I am not certain of the engine size, a Pontiac guy told me that he thinks it is a 455 cu in, either way, it does run nicely.

Please let me know if you have any interest, as I expect to sell this car sooner, than later. If there is no interest, I may put it on ebay, or?
 
A lot of interest but no room at the in. The engine should be the 455. I like those ponchos as will as the Oldsmobiles.
 
Is it safe to assume that all of the car's badging is missing? What was it built on, a Catalina or a Bonneville? It could be a 400c.i. engine as well. Superior built on both the Catalina and the Bonneville.
 
The VIN should tell you all you need to know, if it is the original engine. If it's a Catalina, it will probably be a 400. If it's a Bonneville, it could be a 400 or a 455 in 1970. After 1970, all Bonnevilles had the 455.

Having worked out of a '65 Superior Pontiac Consort ambulance for many years back in the day, I am confused at the number of zippers (4) in the headliner. In most cases, that would point to the unit being a combo in an earlier life, but everything else, including the window decals, choice of vinyl color and hanging hardware, indicates that it was always an ambulance. Very unique, either way!

I thought it was a Catalina, but it says Bonneville on the dash. As for the VIN, it does not decode properly in my book, it reads 262400P in the part of the VIN
that tells you the important stuff. As for badging, this is the way I received it.

Terry, it is my belief that it was always an ambulance, but I am not an expert on the subject. I like the 65 you guys worked out of a lot.
