The Parts Book is Wrong....

I need a replacement fan clutch for one of my cars, so I went to the on line parts book to find the correct part. I even used the original part number for the cross reference part number. When the part arrived, it appears for all intent that it is a modern reproduction part that will replace the original and function correctly. Upon closer examination, I find that the replacement is 3/4" longer than the original. Now, under most circumstances, 3/4" isn't going to be much of a difference when the part goes on the end of another part. In this case, it would put the fan 3/4" closer to the radiator, or in other words, just about touching the radiator. Never assume that the replacement part is correct until you carefully check it against the original part. I am still waiting for a reply from Four Seasons / Hayden, the manufacturer. I have a strong feeling that I will be waiting till hell freezes over before I will get a response. It has been a week so far.
