S&S landau iron differences

Took some head scratching to ascertain why these are different, partially because I had never previously seen an S&S coach that one of these originated from. They are of the same vintage and have the same 49.75" c/c.

Let's hear if you've also made this 'discovery' before answer is revealed.

One has a larg end "button" that is centered, and the other has a small end "button" that is off set.

Well done James!!!!! :applause:

The thinner one allegedly came off a Park Row with removable panels. (And after thinking about it, I've only ever seen MM or Superior with removable panels.) Mounting knobs likewise have a slimmer weight-shaving profile, yet when in place they cover the landau iron ends evenly, also the same. From even 5' away mounted on a Victoria you can't tell the difference.

Wider diameter casting around mounting holes must have been to compensate weakest portion due to thinner bar casting. Just another one of those neat little tidbits that would have gone unnoticed otherwise.

So can someone now provide a picture of an S&S with removable panels?

Please put them on a scale, and tell us how much the actual weight difference is...

I have one stolen from some were and not a vary good picture
