Kevin O'Connell - Deceased - 1954 - 2019

February 10, 1954 - May 12, 2019
Those of you who attended the 2007 International Meet will remember Los Angeles County Fire Department Captain Joe Woyjeck, who conducted our tour of the L.A. County Fire Dept. Museum. Joe has dedicated his life to his vocation, annually donating countless hours to the Museum and other philantropic causes. Joe's son Kevin was a member of the USFS Granite Mountain Hotshots. He was one of the 19 who perished yesterday in Arizona.

Kevin adored his father and had aspired to work with him someday. Joe was equally proud of his son. Kevin was sharp, enthusiastic, loaded with personality and full of promise. Joe has been a dear friend to me and to our hobby. My heart aches for him and his wife Anna. Please remember them in your prayers.

Although I never met Joe, my heart goes out to all of the families involved that lost loved ones. You just never know when your time is up.

This is just so tragic and heartbreaking, my heart goes out to the family and loved ones of all those lost, and to all firefighters who put their life on the line every day and for the friends and loved ones of all who have lost someone in the line of duty.

they do call them wild fires for a reason. I always get a funny feeling when the new people state there hart goes out the ones that lost there lives. when really it need to go out to the survivors of them. tough to lose a child. but a least he went out doing what he loved. defending property of others.

Obviously it's all encompassing on our local news here.

Very emotional scene yesterday as the 19 were escorted here to Phoenix to the Med examiners office.

Prescott itself is a typical small town America and now they've lost a third of their Fire Dept.

Sorry to hear.

Sorry to hear this. I can't imagine what Joe is going through. Thanks for letting us know, Kevin.
