On May 13 the Golden State Chapter participated in the Alisha Ann Ruch Burn Foundation's North Bay Burn Relay. This event is but one of a number of "relays" here in the Golden State that raises funds to provide special services for children with burn related injuries. Fire departments and other public safety agencies host fund raisers throughout the year, and those funds are collected with great fanfair by current and retired first responders, who drive "Code-3" from city to city, making stops at city halls and fire stations along the route. The California Highway Patrol, along with other police agencies, provide motorcycle escort to ensure the safety of the motocade.

This year our members fielded three classic ambulances, these included Mark Provost with his outstanding 1978 Miller-Meteor Lifeliner, Tom Shafer and his 1975 Miller-Meteor Lifeliner, and my 1975 Miller-Meteor Criterion.

Despite the down economy, the agencies involved managed to raise over $46,000 in donations. The organization I work for stepped up and sponsored my rig, and a Vice President with San Francisco Police Credit Union, who rode along with me, made a donation on behalf of the Credit Union at the end of the relay.

Excellent pictures. One gets very excited when viewing a bunch of ambulances, especially a Criterion! Hope Robert can drive it to the Int'l Meet come August.
