Tony Karsnia - Deceased - 1971-2020

September 12, 1971 - November 2, 2020
Yesterday morning, a friend of mine, who happens to be a fellow PCS Northland Chapter member and I went to look at a couple of hearses; one new and one old. My friend was interested in possibly purchasing the older hearse and did indeed come home with a "new" vehicle, though not quite what we expected at the start of the day's journey. It turned out to be his "dream car", which is very clean, sporty, and fast!

Here is a photo of the new acquisition: a Red Line 2005 Cadillac CTS-V (with 6 speed manual transmission) and it's proud new owner!

I think he's still considering the purchase of the older hearse for those winter days when the CTS-V should be kept off of sloppy roads.

In case any of you don't recognize this guy, here's a hint: He's on the Northland Chapter Board of Directors and is truly a "car guy." Now, when he's not showing off his professional cars at area shows and cruises, he's got himself a very sweet daily driver to be cruising in!

Hello, had one in white Diamond. I had a love hate relationship with. I mean two clocks on the dash. loved the car hated the geek stuff. I really did not need a car that said hello Eddie now it'd your turn to drive when I put in the key. but I liked that the seat and steering wheel went were you like them when you did. loved the 4 doors. hated the scroll threw the list of stuff on the radio that you could not see in the day time. loved the way it handled. drove that car at 90 all the way across Montana once. but felt crowed when I was in it. my head keep hitting the roof unless I was almost laying down in it. did I say I loved the we it went. start out standing still catch a rabbit in two car lengths. no can't say I was sorry to see it go but I wish I had it back.

it is a fun car to drive. got to love the way it samples the fule everying you start it and adjusts the timing for the grade of fule you are using. so why dosen't all the Gm line up do the same??;)

At least it's an American made vehicle.

nice try if I remember right mine was a Canada made one. I don't know if you can get many cars made in the usa. the Buick we have now is. the GMC truck we traded was a north of the boarder one. the Monte Carlo same traded it for a pickup same place traded the pickup for what we thought was surely a USA made truck and it turns out the Honda was made in Canada to. some how or other things have gotten turned around Canada should own 55% of GM and the USA 10. most of the cars I see come from north of the border or south of the border. it is vary hard to find one built in the USA and impossable to find one that is all USA parts then.

Brother you said it all. My Harley parts are either from Tiawan or Japan but not from America. HD is always going on about this being American muscle. Yeah right!

Amen brother! I got kicked out of A.D. Farrow Harley-Davidson for telling the truth... listened to a salesman tell a man "This is the LAST of the truly all- American motorcycles!" and I chimed in "No it's not... take off the front fender". Salesman asked why & I replied "Because between the fender mounting holes on the front forks it says 'SHOWA JAPAN' in the casting and all the suspension stuff is cast in Japan, sent to where I work in Sunbury, Ohio (American Showa) and assembled there, then shipped to the Harley factory. All newer Harley forks & shocks are Japanese!"... I was escorted to the door promptly...

the car was made at Lansing Grand River factory in Michigan. Not sure where all the parts are made. The transmission is a tremec and the brakes are by Brembo both high performance parts.

Perhaps I need to throw my A.D. Farrow t-shirt out since they were so mean to you. I don't think there is much of anything that is truely all "American".

Lansing, MI

Do any of you know if the old Oldsmobile Factory in Lansing, MI from the mid 50s' is still there?..... and-or if they are manufacturing another make of car there now?

When I was (7) years old in the fall of 1954, I rode a train cross country from CA to Detroit with my folks to watch the family's 1955 Oldsmobile being built on a certain day, then picked up and driven back to CA after viewing Niagra Falls, the Ford Museum and other attractions. That was also the first time seeing Mercury (Ford) pickups manufactured in Canada. THX-MM
