Michigan Chapter Cruise-In at The A

Saturday evening, the Michigan Chapter attended a local Cruise-In at The A Restaurant. Chapter members James & Kim McDonald, Scott Walker, Richard Vyse, Kevin Parkinson, Dennis Lloyd, Brad Ross, and Tom Boaz (former member) enjoyed classic cars 1972 or older, great food, and oldies music. The weather was beautiful and we all had a great time.

Geez, Richard, were you cold? Denny's in a t-shirt and jeans, another fellow is in shorts.....and you're wearing a parka. Richard, you've been in Florida a long time, you'll never adapt back to Michigan weather. :snow2_smi:

I do believe Richard was a little cold. The Florida lifestyle has made him sensitive to the Michigan temps in the low to mid 60's. As you can see, most of us Michigan folk really think summer has hit, and are running around in t-shirts.

Don't worry, I made sure to tease Richard about his jacket. :D

It was nice to see you this weekend, Richard!

For the group picture, we are standing on the side of my coach. When Richard gets back to Florida, I'm sure that he will post more pictures of the cruise-in and some pics of his adventures while in Flint.

man thats a shame when you get so far out of condition. but did you see the look of I wish I was here on his face. lookes liek a good time was had by all. now if Richard gets tossed in jail on the way home Terry wount have to worry for a while. she shoul have never let him out of her sight. or at lest sent the god father to look out over him.

Was that...

You refer to that as a chapter event. Was it a chapter event or just a bunch of your group getting together? Did you send a notice out about it? I didn't know anything about a chapter event or I would have tried to show up. And it was it at the A or at the A&W? Those are two different places.

Here is the schedule you published...

which had a chapter event in a different city.

I am on the Sloan Auto Fair committee and am in charge of the Admissions gates. I have volunteered our Chapter to work at the gate on Saturday, where all the vehicles come in to register for the show. This is the busiest gate and day. There will be three shifts: 8:00 – 11:00, 11:00 – 2:00, and 2:00 – 5:00. I need four people at each shift. That is 12 volunteers. If I can get more volunteers to work, that would be fantastic. If our group shows up at 7:30 a.m. we will get to pick out where we want to park as a group!
This event is a fun-filled two-day show with plenty of music, entertainment, vendors and of course, automobiles! The Flint Cultural Center campus becomes home to more than 800 of the best looking cars, trucks, and motorcycles around for the weekend. The event starts Saturday at 8:00 a.m. At 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, there will be an at-will cruise to the Hot Dog Stand in Grand Blanc.
Come back on Sunday at 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. to see everything again and find out who won awards! There will be awards given for the top 75 vehicles, and other awards. Enjoy lectures, feature cars, exhibits, planetarium shows, food, kids’ activities, music, and much more!

I didn't think it was a chapter event. The cruise is in the same place the third Saturday of each month and most of us in the picture are local and show up there every month.

The A&W is no more. They either did not renew the franchise license or it was not renewed. It is now (for the past six weeks or so) The Flushing A.

I didn't say that it was a Chapter event. I said "the Michigan Chapter attended." Guess I should re-read what I write before I publish it. It should have said, some members of the Michigan Chapter attended.

There was a Chapter event in Comstock Park, but maybe only two Chapter members were able to attend.

I did not send out a notice about the cruise-in in downtown Flushing because this wasn't something that was planned ahead of time. It was a last minute thing. I was able to get a hold of a few folks to find out if they were going, and then went down there early. It was at the Flushing A (which I call The A Restaurant). The A&W in Flushing lost their franchise and is no longer called that.

If any of our Chapter members decide to go to a local cruise-in, and they let me know ahead of time, I will call you Brady.

Nice photos, Kim. Did you also notice the nice tan Richard had? He did look a little cold though. By the way, its 90 down here. Rick did use the words "crisp" when describing the weather.

Your comment, Ed, made me laugh. Yes, he did have a nice tan. In fact, he was the only person that did have one. Terri, how did you like everything Richard brought home? A couple weeks ago Scott showed me what he was giving you. Hope you are happy with it.

will at least he did have enough class not to brake out a stocking cap

Rick got in late last night so I only had a few minutes to look at the stuff this morning before heading to work. FANTASTIC! Can't wait to see all the photos. Hey Ed, I think a limo would look good with my stuff , too.
