Acquired a very nice Ferno-Washington Model 54 last year for my 1963 GMC rescue ambulance (http://www.professionalcarsociety.or...ad.php?t=17458). Near-new condition, works great. However, what i failed to note (before buying of course!!) is that it was somewhat newer in design than the one that once resided in my vehicle. The serial number dates it to 1983! Surprising indeed - some folks, like the State of Washington apparently - still wanted this two-level model cot.
Over time, F-W chose to eliminate the red footpad in the pull-handle at the foot of the cot. The height of the handle also decreased slightly, so one can't be inserted. These also became permanently mounted. A second change was that the release "lever" at the head of the cot was changed from a metal "T" to a likely more robust, integrated "V." Third, the rubber bumpers were moved to the bottom carriage rather than attached to the top pegs. Honestly - few besides weirdos like me would likely notice such minimally noticeable design changes. ![]() Regardless - I can't see any use for it with my current collection, and have a hard time imaging a future use. I would be interested in selling it for a reasonable offer, or trading it for something else of interest. If you've got an earlier Model 54 - maybe we can work a deal? ![]() I am willing to ship FedEx door-to-door, or ship by Grayhound terminal to terminal at their actual cost. Depending on how far you are from me and your chosen method - cost of shipping a cot has ranged from $90-$180 in my experience. |

"updates" made to the Model 21 and Model 30 around that time. If you change your mind - it's still here. I believe I could bring it to this year's meet if desired. |

I still remain happy to bring this with me to the meet, if someone wants it. It's a nice cot.

Shouldn't- it's used equipment, could now possibly classify as antique.
