they say a bad day fishing is greater then a good day working. but neither tops wandering around in the yard. we have been staying close to home here lately but we talked to gal across the street and she said she would come over for the afternoon into be with Kandy. Les and I went looking for a starter for the 53. my quick overhaul did not solve the problem with it not spinning over when warm. so it needs some testing and I did not want to send it in with out a back up plan. knew the yard over west had at least two older cars in it. so we went to see a old friend. he handed me the keys to the gate and told up how to get around to the cars we wanted. so we went shopping. found the cars 51 and 52 one had the 6 but no starter, the other the 8 and it was there. got the idem we came for and a shield for the heater duct. snapped a few pictures of stuff been a long time since I had seen some of these cars on the road. found my old 53 New Yorker 2 door hard top. neat car. here you can enjoy some

I have to agree with you Ed. Nothing tops a day spent wandering through one of these old yards with hundreds, if not thousands of vehicles.......... pre-1980!

Have you snagged the cot bar and brackets out of that van yet, Ed? Sometimes other good stuff left in those things as well!

Some pretty cool iron there Ed! There is a bathtub Nash, an AMC Marlin from 1965, or 1966 and even a couple of Corvairs for Paul Steinberg. Thanks for sharing your fun day with us.

There are several vintage salvage yards in Ed's part of the world. Great place to pick parts as there is relatively little rust. We will have to put together a salvage yard list for those attending the meet this Summer, if there is any interest. Most are not "self-service" or open to the public to wander around, but they may have something that you need.
