1968 Pontiac Ambulance - $3800 (Mukilteo)

Asked for additional information and pictures from the seller when it was first listed a few years ago. Never did get a reply.

Been There, Done That!

My 68 Superior-Pontiac needed most of the same repairs, but it seemed a little more presentable, than this one. I must say, I loved that car, it drove like a dream, got lots of attention, no regrets.

I am attaching some images of mine, when it arrived. It was not running, needed tires, complete exhaust, gas tank, all fluids changed, tune up, belts hoses, body work, chrome work, upholstery work and so on. I enjoyed the car every step of the way. But, it all came together well, sometimes that does not happen.

Difficult to understand why it was ordered with a manual transmission, unless it was a 4 speed, which I would seriously doubt. Must have had a serious collision on the left side, because the fender and hood have been replaced. I would want a lot more pictures before I would even considering it as a restoration candidate. My guess from the vague description, is that it is going to need a complete interior and exterior restoration, and a lot of mechanical work. I have always said to start with the best car that you can find, at a price that you can afford. This car might be within reach as far as price, but you are going to need to spend at minimum another $15,000 just to paint, chrome, and interior, and possibly even more. I just was quoted for a gallon of red base coat / clear coat at $500 +- depending on the shade of red. Red is the most expensive paint you can purchase!

I'll bet this was just a default that the seller missed when composing the ad.

To my knowledge, 1966 was the last year that Superior offered a manual (three speed) transmission on a Pontiac.

Received these pictures so far

Here's what the seller has sent me so far. He does not know much about ambulances as I asked about the vinyl covering on what might be the medical cabinet and he didn't know what I was referring to.

It appears that it is missing its original cabinet. That rear storage well is kind of ugly!

Here's some more pictures. He doesn't know if there ever was a medical cabinet present. Still no shots of the cab yet.
