1967 MM Combo

Why do these always have broken windshields?

1967 CADILLAC HEARSE - $2500 (MAYFIELD, KY)

I have for sale my 1967 Cadillac M&M hearse. It has the 472 engine with automatic transmission. The car runs and transmission shifts good. The breaks are also good. It will need tires and the wind shield is cracked. The other glass is good. It needs work, but would make a great item to advertise a haunted house with. I bought it with intentions to restore it but my interest have changed. Has both fender skirts and all 4 original hubcaps. This is called a combination because it could also be used for an ambulance. It is a very unique car at 22 feet long. If you are interested in the car let me know and we will set up a time for you to look. Sorry, but cash only no checks.

broken windshields

I think these big rides have so many broken windshields because people put them on lifts and twist the bodies and frames. My 61 shop manual from Cadillac has a caution stating that a commercial chassis car should not be put on a frame lift. If you must use a frame lift instead of a drive on type you are suppose to use the lift points listed in the shop manual. Not many garages use a manual to place a car on a lift. It the arm will reach the frame that is good enough for them. It works on most other cars but not our extra long and heavy ones. If you have a factory shop manual for your coach use it. Read it. It may save you some headache down the road.
Of course there are the ones that get the rock, bullet or other projectile tossed through them too.

Seems that the slightest rock chip will eventually cause the windshield to crack. This is why the insurance companies will pay for rock chip damage. My Mercedes had a tiny rock chip, and it cracked this summer, and the crack is through both sides of the rock chip. If you get a chip, and don't want to replace the windshield at some time in the future, get the chip repaired ASAP.
