Recommend Tires 1957 Eureka

Im looking at General Tires Grabber HTS 235/75/15 for my car. Are these Ok for the weight of the car. I heard I should use LT tires, any recommendation?

I tried radials on my 57 Eureka, and I was not happy with the way it looked. I tried two different brands of tire. The wheel is the limiting factor for the size and, therefore, the weight capacity of the tire. There are folks who go up a width size on the tire, and mount it to the wheel...they use a 7 inch tire on a 6 inch wheel. They claim that it is safe, and that there is nothing to worry about. I have never heard of any of them having problems with doing so, but I am of the mind that safety is of paramount importance and there is no room for compromise. I researched until I could find no more information, and I determined that the bias ply 890-15 tires look the best, and are probably the safest to use.
If you search the forum's previous posts, you will find a wealth of information on the matter. If you choose to use radials, there are folks on this site who have done so, and were satisfied with the results. As I recall, there are posts that contain information with the size and brand of tire that they used. Here is one thread.

Please note that the post that I made, in the above, linked thread regarding the weight capacity and the size of the tire should be vetted. I believe that I was given some information in error; specifically, "Another option is a Cooper tire: 265 75 15; 30.4" tall, 10.6" wide, load 2245....books says they will fit a 6.0-8.0" rim." I believe that they will fit a 7.0 to 8.0 inch wheel, not a 6.0 to 8.0 inch wheel. Again, some guys will go up an inch and run them that way. My gut tells me not to...I could be wrong though.
I wish I could be more definitive. Perhaps you will have better luck than I with your research; if so, share your findings please.

I researched your tire choice, and I found that your tire should fit a 6" wheel....

Click the above link, then click on the, "specs" tab.

The 'factory' size tire on your coach is 31" tall....the tires that you are interested in are, 28.9"...that actually makes them only, 1.05" short...not too bad...I would be grateful to know how they work out for you if you go with them. They are a lot less expensive than the nearly $300 per tire plus shipping for the bias-plys.

Your Eureka really deserves white walls! The tires look like truck tires.

I also agree with Kurt that white walls are optimal.

If you are irrevocably sold on the radials, call Bill at Diamondback tires...He can order the tires and install white walls on them for you... https://www.dbtires.com/

If you are open to another option, then these are your tires: https://www.cokertire.com/890-15-firestone-3-whitewall-tire.html

I understand that the white wall options are more costly...if you are just trying to get fresh rubber on your wheels for the time that you are restoring your vehicle, then go for it; it will cost less in the short-term...long term, it will cost more when you want to change the tires to the period correct look/tire. If you can afford the bias-ply white walls now, then you will be happier with the way the vehicle sits and looks with them than with radials.

I hope this helps!

I like the blackwall look only cause I dont plan on new paint and chrome. I like the creepy look and I think white walls would look too nice on the car. I am leaning towards the generals at about 90.00 a tire in your money. But keep coming with suggestions. Remember Im up here in Canada

you can't go wrong with the right size and weight rating tire you can get them in black if that's what your looking for cooker/universal has the 890x15 8 ply tires in a Firestone brand. US Royal was what it came out with but there are not around.

Mr. Bill at Diamondback tires will help you choose the right size, load range and look for your car. The white wall is guaranteed never to yellow with age. The tires in my profile photo are DB radials and the Meteor rides and drives like a dream. Go DB
