Smile My 1966 chrysler town and country Ambulance

Hello everyone!
Today I thought I would share with you my new purchase and first pro car, a 1966 chrysler town and country Ambulance! I found the car in dunsnafnage PEI after 2 years of searching. I had an add on kijiji looking for a high top ambulance. A guy emailed me and said that he seen one while driving by a run down car museum on the main road in dunsnafnage. Me and my father took a drive from nb to pei just to see if it was true. Thankfully for us, it was. The fellow who was selling the ambulance actually ran the museum for 20 odd years with his father. We came to an agreement and 2 weeks later, I owned it(purchase date 23/10/17).

The ambulance runs, lights and siren work and there is minimal rust. Paint is original for the most part. Hightop is made of steel.

The interior is missing some things, like the arm to secure the stretcher to the wall. The holes are still there for it. The stereo and the dispatch radio are missing. There are holes on the top of the side door panels I think held scrolling from the ambulance service. Seats and headliner needs tlc.

Breaks need to be fixed. The car is equipped with a 383 engine and dual exhaust. Engine bay is very clean. There is lots of things to keep a person busy, but I could not be happier.
I was also able to track down a history on this ambulance. Unfortunately, I still have not found the coachbuilder as the ambulance was a one-off deal. I did however find out where it began life. It was first used by MacLean Ambulance Service in charlottown pei when new in 1966(http://www.emsclassics.com/rosterdet...dward%20Island).

The service used the ambulance for 10 years, and according to Clarence foster, the seller, the ambulance was sold to a fire dept in nova Scotia where it served as a fire chief vehicle.

This is supported by a vintage inspection sticker from nova Scotia in the center of the windshield. This was used for a while by the dept, when it finally was removed from service and sold to mr foster. According to Foster, he has ad the ambulance for over 20 years. This is not where the story of the ambulance ends however, as he has used if for various activities. In 2001, Clarence took the ambulance across Canada to car shows as a tour vehicle for Canadian Classics Magazine.

I found a picture of it. He had it labeled as the "coast Busters". After this, the ambulance served in 2 movies. One in Bathurst NB, and the other in Quebec. The one in Bathurst was called Full Blast, and was a"homo-erotic action thriller" Don't look it up. Lastly, the ambulance can be seen in a youtube video created by the makers of trailer park boys titled "Speedy Pete EMT"https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=0uZ7Qcf9zZg. I will use this thread to update you on what I do to the ambulance. Thanks
