52 Pontiac ambulance

you would think the man could have at least duck taped the top of the carp. all that junk in the car and no AC on it. it is a better body them mine.

While I defer to the restoration specialists in our group, this seems like a good candidate. Given time (and money)we could see a nice early 50's save.

Wait, if you tape a duck to a carp, does that make it a flying fish?:p

Ed, I do the best I can to figure you out most times, but this has me beat.

no but it does help them fly united..

lets try this again. while I'm still alert. the least you would think a person would do is cover the carburetor even if it was only with duct tape. all that junk filling the engine room and no air cleaner on it spills bad news to me. water get into the intake and it tends to freeze and brake the side out.. I do have a spare one here though.

tell me why is it the only thing duct tape won't stick to is ducts?

Red Green would be proud !

I can't understand why so many cars have the air cleaner removed and left unattended for years with it open like that !

Duct tape is used for more things than ducts these days anyways.
Wallets is a big one. Ladies dresses even !

Now there are 50 different colors and many different patterns too !

I don't get it either.. I have had mane cars sit for years.. Even my parts cars all have the air cleaner on them.. I will never understand it.

Don is a heavy Mopar collector. He has around 450 cars lying around his house of which less than 20% are not Mopar. Don is the epitome of someone who will let a car deteriorate farther if not receiving 100% of asking price - which is precisely why Barnette is still there. (Luckily, cars don't rot in typical TX conditions sitting like this one is.) He's a retired phone company employee which is how he found & amassed a significant percentile of what has been accumulated.

Passenger rear fender leading edge has a couple of (what appear to be) axe cuts. That was worst body damage. Driver rocker needs work. I don't recall rockers being rusted out however. As per norm, TX interiors get roached in sun. Same here.

$3500 five years ago was high. Still is but since unrestored straight ambulances have steadily increased in selling prices, that margin has lessened. I do remember being surprised that it was an ambulance and not a combination but neglected taking picture of cabinet. (Maybe I did but can't locate them currently. Thought I had taken more of coach on subsequent visits.) It is fairly complete. Don't know what extra parts mentioned in current CL ad consist of. Compare CL pics to mine and note cheesy corner roof lights have been added since. Can tell from new pics Barnette has been turned around but otherwise in same spot on property since I first visited 5/09.

1 of 2 '40s Superiors Don used to have can be seen in background. They were also each $3500 and sold to same buyer for $7k. Don't know where they went.
