1938 Buick Superior Bodied Hearse Combination Coach – Chassis # 13338663.
This car was previously owned by a professional car collector for 10 years who has over 45 years of expertise in the field.
This coach is ONE OF ONLY FOUR (4) known to exist.

Built on a lengthened 40 series chassis. This is a rare 75 year old time capsule.
Car has been in covered storage its entire life.

1938 represents the first year that any coach builder built an all steel bodied car. Prior to 1938 coaches were wood framed
and almost always in need of costly restoration. This car is 98% complete with all the hard to find parts as well as side moldings and trim.
Side mount cover and tail lens are the only missing items of note.

This coach was built by Superior with Cadillac LaSalle door handles and tail lights.

Driver’s interior is complete in a burgundy leatherette with a few stitches giving way but very usable to duplicate original patterns.
Rear compartment has all has all original but very tattered draperies and rods for all windows with original and complete window shades.

A picture is included showing the original wood and leatherette flower trays for the rear compartment.
Also a highly unusual second ambulance floor that is original and unique to this vehicle. The ambulance floor (3 pieces) are laid over the
hearse roller floor. It has cups in the floor to hold stretcher wheels.

Bumpers were re-chromed in in the early 80’s and are still in wraps. All glass is intact but windshield is badly fogged.

Now for the rest of the story – I have owned the hearse for 3 years and have taken the frame off and had it professionally sand blasted and painted.
(Pictures included.) Also body was sand blasted and primered as shown in pictures. Buyer will have to arrange to haul body and frame detached.

The entire original (Straight V8) engine was rebuilt by A&A Racing Engines and Dyno Shop in Davison, Michigan and picked up Thursday, October 31, 2013.
Total cost foe engine rebuild was $7779.00. Complete Build Sheet available.

Original radiator was also restored and is brand new. Personal issues require selling this grand old car. Questions welcomed.
Finished engine picture (painted in turquoise and red) is NOT our engine, but is a reference to what it is like.

FYI, John Ehmer was the one who had this Flxible for sale there. If I remember had a pretty good and reasonable price tag on it as well.
