The Indiana-based company, Ampcor, announced today that they would be closing their factory. This closing affects 50 people, putting them out of work.
The factory was started in 1962, and has been in operation since that time. The business owner, Dave Christian stated through reliable sources that the company had struggled in the past few years due to the growing amount of cremations had reduced demand for the company's metal casket handles.
The owner, also stated that one of its major customers also recently decided to buy less expensive handles from a Chinese supplier.
