newly found hearse porn

Since moving to TX, a plethora of procar leads opened up south of the border. As much as I'm into it, tracking, ferreting, doing legwork...I've adopted a wait-and-see approach the last couple months for Mexican coaches. Often it seems when a lead is followed, they aren't as described, years are way off, or the money involved doesn't warrant shipping. Guess the same holds true in the US really but language barrier makes Mexican coaches more frustrating. :smiley3:

About a month ago I caught wind of a few in the same area not far from Texas - which is a significant bonus. Pretty sweet for a change not to worry about logistics, drug cartel activity, etc. Still, one person mentioning them without any proof and they went to the back burner with 30+ other Mexican coaches I've heard about. No big deal.

Until this past Monday.

A completely independent source confirmed that these indeed exist and are for sale. Exciting! (Until prices are provided and these may/may not go in a different section here, enjoy the back story.) At this point, I learn the first two are:

'55 Cadillac combination
'58 Superior Cadillac

Both of these are good original driving condition. Not bad. Either one would be worth going after alone. The third and one that intrigues the most?

'41 Cadillac hearse in great original condition. One of the two sources went so far as stating that it can still be used for services! Whoa. That's a heavily weighted statement right there. The '41 asking price is considerably more than the other two but not high per se, nor high for the American market. It does help validate the alleged condition.

Oh - did I mention one of the sources used the word 'panels' describing this '41..? That's right. Like a service quality coach in that year range isn't enough. This may actually turn out being carved as well. Who knows?

Forward to today. A couple teaser pics were emailed.

Again, these are original and unrestored! Color me surprised...and that takes a lot. The '41 I've learned is an S&S. The way things are progressing I should have full picture sets of each by this time next week.

Good day in my book.

They've been well taken care of. Both have current license plates (which is why they're omitted). Such a poor country that no one would spend that sort of money if not road worthy~

The '55 Miller is a combination - not that I've definitively figured what is on the roof giving the cover that shape. ;)

Gold and more Gold

My oh my oh my!

I think I'd do almost anything to have that 55...
Can hardly wait to see more of them all, Thankyou !

I wonder if it is some type of red emergency lights, there are red lights in the grill. I could be wrong though.:pat:

Love the 58

As the owner of a 58 M-M it sure makes me want to get mine finished seeing that grill with the "Dagmars" with the rubber tips. My 58 is still at the Upholstery shop; I saw her today. I plan on pushing them to get her done, as soon as I get some funding to complete her. I may have to complete my 66, and then sell it to finish the 58.

Regarding the 55, the red parking lights look like S&S lenses! S&S regularly used factory installed red lenses in their parking lights on S&S combos. I used to love to watch the ones on the 54 S&S Cadillac at Summers Funeral Home in Boise. They looked like "fog" lights and were big and round (almost like a 2nd headlight but smaller). They were BRIGHT and looked very cool when they flashed. S&S cars were FIRST CLASS.

Hope you all are doing well...it's been a while since I've been on the site.

I think the odd shape under the car cover is a sun visor... obviously it protrudes out from the windshield somewhat, but yet as it angles back it's taller than the roofline. I've seen some real ugly & BIG visors though, especially the old-school add-on ones with gawdy side brackets... so that's my guess.
You guys can fight over the '55... i'm waiting to dream about the '41 carved-panel!!! Nice finds Atti!

Pics showed up this evening. After a third straight day of hunting old iron, I'm 3 hours away from being home, about to crash, and updating from my phone because I can't wait...

'41 is NOT carved. It is in wonderful all original shape and needs a restoration.

'55 is all gold with a gold interior. If someone restores this they should be shot to ride in it.

'58 after a bath is just a notch below the '55 Miller's condition. 3-way! Unreal red and tan two-ton interior.

This gets even better. Today in rural TX I found...well...who is looking for a '50s high top ambulance?

Photo update massive after returning.

41 S&S. Was told 100% original, untouched. Seems the gray is - skeptical about the black two tone from the factory though without a molding across the rear. Still, a solid unmolested complete(?) basis for restoration if the money is right:

'55 Miller Combination. Carl Woerner provided an interesting tidbit - he's heard of this coach before; having sold last at least 25 years ago, although he has never seen it. Given the odd color and original stature, not a stretch to assume that this is the same coach.

Comparable condition to the '55 Meteor on eBay, more desirable combination over straight endloader, peculiar colors that will stand out at any professional car event, and available for less out of pocket, assuredly.

Silver fade to tan perhaps..?

Not making asking prices public in the wrong forum, nor starting new threads in the classifieds. I will say that they're fair values, not steals, not top pricing. *IF* we get 3 people together to match up with these 3 coaches - the buying power becomes important, dropping them into a 'very good deal' range. Common sense stuff. PM/email for my number if you want any further info.

For now, enjoy the pics!
