Broken Ferno Washington Stretcher

Repair or replace?

Is this the correct stretcher for my '72 pontiac?

Thinking we had the Model 30C and thinking this may have been an earlier model.

Thanks.

This is a #54; my guess would be from the 1958-63 era.

Ferno didn't acquire Washington Mortuary until late '60. Separate product lines continued until being badged Ferno-Washington in '63. If this is accurate, no way it can be earlier than '63.

Given serial #11823 is low, my best guess would be late '63 or early '64 without verifying through FW production numbers.

repair or replace?

That looks to be cast aluminum. It could be repaired if you can, or know someone that can weld aluminum.

my information says Ferno combined with Washington in 54. they continued to sell products under each brand for around 10 years. the numbed is Dec 63 to Jan 64. but stamped Washington tagged with ferno tag says refurbished to me. it was rather common to send a gurney back to the manufacture to have it rebuilt to put in the new car. they would re badge it then. it's still a piece worth the repair. and could have been used in 72. but as stated most were #30 by them with a few of the auto load mixed in

I got to digging threw my pictures of stuff and I have one of a 54 with the cast legs and one with pipe. both labeled Washington with the square tops. the neat thing with Washington was they usually have the modal number stamped with there name. but what I can't find is the 50th anniversary tag picture. we got a set of 35's in 93-4-5 I'm guessing at work and they were all tagged with a 50th anniversary label. I have to go up there today we'll try for another one. who knows what they were calling a anniversary.

New Stretcher, need sparts

I was able to swap out the old stretcher with a friend. However, the 30C (I believe.) needs the two release handles as well as the crank for the knee gatch.

Any tips appreciated.

Thanks.
Terry

thats about all they were and bolted to the lever. if you don't have one around I could get you a pattern and pictures for the release handles. I have a shot of the crank handle but it not very good one.
