Classy Cadillacs

I purchased this very nice and well-equipped 1976 Lifeliner from Dennis Distributors (Flint, MI) in 1983. My wife and I attended our first PCS meet, in Indianapolis, on the way home. (The 1973 S/P next to it was ours, as well.)

This 1973 S/C 54" was originally owned by the Morrisville Ambulance Corps (Morrisville, PA). The beacon was a #174, the tunnels 888s, and the Q had a curved mounting base with a wedge under it. This photo was taken on a Sunday afternoon in front of Ninde's in Tulsa. I quickly replaced the AMBULANCE sign and had new matching whitewalls installed.

I eventually sold both cars to funeral homes in NE Oklahoma.

P.S.: Do any of you Michigan guys know where the '76 served originally?

I guess this car was doing full-time ambulance duty by the time its electric spotlight was installed.

Pardon me while I fall in love...what an absolute beauty! Plus, she's my favorite color of blue, right down to the painted wheel cover centers. I've seen a few other Superiors of this era (notably Crown Sovereigns) with this feature. According to my friend and Cadillac expert Jim Jordan, it was not a Cadillac option at the time.

The Liberty Corner, NJ Superior was displayed at the PCS National Meet in Mt. Laurel N.J. a few years back. A very beautiful car in person too!

This girl had apparently been OOS for some time when these photos were taken in April, 1989. What a shame...wonder where she is now?

Gorgeous! Love the blue.

More info on some of the NJ cars

The Elberon car is still owned by the squad and sits in a buiding about 1/4 mile from the squad building

The Minatola car was sold to one of their members after the squad disbanded about 2-3 yrs ago

The Leonardo car was sold to Willingboro Ambulance and was repainted white over red. It was also at the 2008 International Meet.

There are at least 12 professional car ambulances owned by squads in NJ

While I was looking at the pictures of the homemade hightop, I also remembered that when the guy made the conversion, he used school bus stop lights from an old bus that actually had "STOP" etched in the lenses. From the looks of the pics now, there has been some work done to the conversion.
