I've been looking at that one on CL for some time but I keep telling myself I've got all I can say grace over now.......on the other hand it is only a few miles away

Looks to be a pretty decent car, not to bad on the price either. Is it just me, or is the gas filler door missing?

Hard to say without seeing it in person, but that seems a little high still for something that probably doesn't immediately run and has probably been sitting out awhile. Maybe he's considering offers though? If it's that close, it's probably worth a look anyway. You never know, a wash, wax, and a fluid change could get you into a great coach. I'd say if you like it, look at it. It's free. Looks wise, my old '66 Superior was one of my favorite old hearses.

It's there, just dirty or faded. It also has that chrome L-shaped trim that which makes it look like the door is open.

By the way, any one else notice the lower rear fender trim, like on the higher end models?

Interesting - a Sovereign with a Royale rear door.

Could be either; no way to know without speaking to former owner.

Isn't the lower quarter trim also Royale specific?

No, sir; it's a Crown standard feature (as seen below), but was available as an option on non-Crown cars:

I am missing something, how is it a royal rear door?

The only thing that keeps me from looking... is a 76 that I have been after for a few years has just come available and the 75's & 76's are my favorites for some reason. My wife would divorce me if I talk about yet another. However I would be glad to drive over and look at it if someone here is interested.

Regards,
James

I went and looked at this car today. There is no battery so they could not crank it. They told me it has a bad wheel bearing and a slight miss in the engine and that they stopped driving it because of the wheel bearing. The car is pretty solid, however I did see some rust trough under the chrome behind the driver side rear wheel and some starting on the front of the hood. The interior will need some work. Driver's seat has a rip in the bottom and the rollers and other functional pieces are missing from the back. It appears as though someone was intending to put seats in the back and started cutting the floor out.The body looks pretty strait and the old car is very restorable. It does have the A/C components there. The owner tells me she bought it on ebay a few years ago from a seller in New Jersey who had used it to haul his band equipment between New York and Chicago and that she and her ex-husband used it for Halloween functions. The are divorced and she needs to sell the car because she is moving and she tells me she has some room for negotiation on the price if anyone is interested.

Sovereign - small window
Royale - large window

I thought the Royale had the large rear door glass and small corner glass like my 68?

Absolutely correct Daniel - Royale was Superior's term for corner windows; Sovereign without.

Which is why this particular Sovereign having a Royale rear loading door sticks out. ;)

as the hole in the back is the same you can mix and match the doors. who know if it came out of the plant that way or some one swaped the rear door on it some time.
