This is a R&R vacumcraft (R&R resins) 1956 Pontiac ambulance kit... (however it has 55 trim but a 56 grill your guess is as good as mine) The resin body was of good cast with some air bubbles and final finishing to do before paint. Mold lines flash in the windows ect. I cut out the interior rear passenger side. (it was a poor casting of the Ecto1 interior)

For paint I went with Krylon Burgundy This would have been a nice candidate for a Two tone paint job, but I was going for the Low cost but flashy Fire Dept based Ambulance. Wheels are from a 57 Chevy 210, lights are from the parts box.

Just a side note this model won Best Light commercial at the Super September Showdown last Sunday. (Models were voted on by attendees)

Congratulations on your award, Chris. It is very well deserved! As was said previously, hope to meet you and see some of your models at the Micro Meet in Flint, MI in February.

Richard, maybe you can take delivery of your Criterion model at the meet in February. I've decided I'd better bring mine for you to see. How cool would that be to have a pair of Criterions...in miniature!

MI in Feb might be out of my reach... Fiance in Nursing school... working the Fire Dept full time and another part time gig... BUt it shure would be fun.... Thats why I build the models, cant afford a real one yet. But once Sara is done with Nursing School she said its GAME ON for a real classic ambulance.

Let Vysegrips near that Criterion and we will have a heck of a time getting him calmed down. His heart might not take the stress. I don't want anything to happen to him.

Hey Chris, great job and congrats on the award!

As Richard said, nice to be able to put a face with the name now. Hopefully we will get to see you some time in the future at a show. Hmmm... Bath PA, I will have to look that up and see how close you are to me.

I have to come back and comment a little more on the incredible detail.

The exterior looks really good, but the interior is out of this world! When I was building, I used to put a lot of detail into my interiors, but to be able to scratch build an ambulance interior would be a challenge for me. Very impressive! As always, thanks for posting.

Looks excellent, Chris.

But you're right, that's a '56 grille and '55 side trim. I'd like to build that myself, and I think I'll correct one or the other....

....or maybe make it a Chevy...

Hey Chris your life is like a mirror of mine, full time at the Fire Dept. a part time job as a medic and a fiance who just finished nursing school and is now working in an ER.

Total Travel Estimates: 5 hours 17 minutes / 318.75 milesYeh Paul, I kinda figured that Chris was on the other side of the state! It is just my luck. I have found so many people in Pennsylvania through one car club or another, but it always seems like it is 300+ miles between us.

Hey Chris, one of these days! I'll either see you at a meet out there or somewhere around here. You get that better half of yours through school and then she can support you for a while.
