I have a 61 buick flxible flxette hearse, i'm willing to trade for an70's or 80's hearse in excelent condition (runs great, good interior, no rust, all original) my 61 has issues, the body is solid except rear door, its all original, tires brakes fuel tank, and trans are bad. This is probably one of the last ones left, if its not the last one. They didn't make many landau top short wheelbase hearses, they weren't popular. I'm guessing at best they built 10 of these. I'm told no production numbers were kept. The engine ran good and the hearse has really low miles 40k if i remember corectly. I haven't started it in a while i'm not sure if it still will start or not. it has a 401 4 barrel, I was running dual quads on it but need cash and sold the factory dual quad set up off of a 64 buick 425, and put the factory 4 barrel setup back on..

This person posted on a different forum almost 4 months ago (along w/ a '90s minivan removal vehicle) and has not provided '61 pics since.

Based on he description ("haven't started it in a while"), this sounds like the same guy that has been trying to sell this car for more than 5 years now, or it is somebody that bought it off of him 5 years ago. Either way I'm pretty sure this car has been offered for quite a while now. I believe it's blue.

For reference, probably looks like this:

May even be the same car, in much worse condition. It may be silver with a blue interior, but the one that has been on ebay in the past has always looked blue. May just be the camera taking the picture. It will be interesting if pictures surface. The one I saw was for sale in 2006-07, then a few times after that. Always sounds like the same seller posting.

Sent this straight away to McPherson who said that if this car is in Michigan, as I was led to believe by the ad, it is probably a model FB610L-61 bearing Flxible serial number 1175. If so....this car was delivered April 21, 1961 to the Algoe-Gundry Funeral Home in Flint, Michigan. Again, if it's the car he thinks it is, it was sold to them by Dennis Distributors who was the Michigan dealer for Flxible and was also located in Flint. He says that there were 86 Flxettes built in 1961 (7 hearses, 70 combinations and 9 ambulances) and only 14 of these were landaus. There were also 2 built as Pamoramic Landaus with wrap-around rear quarter windows. The 1961 Flxibles and Buicks were, in my opunion, extremely handsome cars. Hope this survivor finds a good home and is restored and preserved.

Here is a link to pictures of a silver with blue interior 1961 Flxible landau discussed this past June, owned by Raymond Hele. While the posts did not exactly say, it sounded like he just got it.

In a couple discussions in the past, the car or cars in question had the following information posted:

One was described as having the tag FB620L-R1 and #1116

The other discussion describes the car as being owned by Spitler Coach Sales, and possibly CW Coach.

Not sure if either are the same car, but both were in the same area at some point.

Similar car, but I doubt it is the same. He said it drove like a dream, and seemed very happy to have snagged it.

According to McPherson, there were only 7 Flxible Flxette Model FB620L-61 vehicles sold and built. The FB620 was a Flxette Funeral Car and the FB620L was a Flxette Funeral Car with Landau styling. Here's the list of 1961 Flxible Flxette Model FB620L-61 cars he sent me along with the states they went to and their body numbers:

Ontario, Canada - 1115
Wisconsin - 1152
New York - 1167
New York - 1181
Pennsylvania - 1187
Pennsylvania - 1193
Pensylvania - 1197

Again, according to what I'm being told, there were 86 Flxettes built in 1961 and of these 14 were landaus and 2 were panoramic landaus.

According to McPherson, the car in this particilar post - complete with photos - is a 1961 Flxible Flxette Model FB620L-61 and is body #1115. It was delivered to the Nicholls Funeral Home in Midland, Ontario by Andrew Baile on October 31, 1960. According to Tom, it is easily identified as this car from the photo of the Buick serial plate showing the number 4G-1001383 - which matches up with car 1115 in the Flxible record book he has.

The Algoe car was all black with a much darker interior. I have photos of it somewhere.

The one that I posted the numbers for was discussed on the old board back in 2007. The "R" and #1116 instead of #1115 are likely typos, so it is probably the same car that Raymond has now. I still don't know if that is the same one I saw for sale in the Detroit area, but if it isn't, that one was also a landau Flxette. I'm guessing all are the same car, and that it has changed hands once or more. Maybe Russell can shd some light on whether or not the seller on CL now is Raymond, or if the car is the same one.

This car is for sale in Saint Clair Shores, Michigan and, according to the owner bears body #1193 Flxette built in 1961. McPherson says that it is a 1961 Flxible Flxette Model FB620L-61 that it was number 80 of 86 Flxettes built in 1961 and that it was delivered to the Strunk Funeral Home in Mifflinburg, Pennsylvania on July 15, 1961 by Spitler S&S Sales of Montoursville, Pennsylvania. The motor number for this car is/was 4H-1051853. This is a decent-looking light blue landau with what appears to be a black or dark blue roof.

I have a photo of the car in discussion and it is a blue 61 Flxible flxette but have not seen any more pics of it or any info on weather it is still for sale. I myself still have the 61 flxette that I purchased in the early spring of last year and have ABSOLUTLY NO interest in parting with it! Mine never left Ontario Can and I believe im the 3rd owner of the car which will make its restored apperance in the spring of this year!
