This RARE Pontiac has been in the family since the 80's and sadly must go. Offered is a 1962 Pontiac Star Chief. Once a working Funeral car turned show car in the early 80's now in need of some TLC to bring it back to life. The car has an Olds 455cu in motor (ran great when last driven), a 400 turbo Trans w/ high performance converter. The seats are in decent shape and I have lots of original parts to include but not limited to; bumper, hood and fender replacements and much more. If interested please call Pat @ 818-899-9519 Tues-Sat. $750.00 OBO

A landau C/B Pontiac - long or short wheelbase - is a rare bird!

Looking at pics (before seeing Steve's response) I kept thinking well that isn't a Superior! Neat post, obscure coach, and great ID guys.

Geez, I wish this stuff was closer...that's not a half bad price just for the 455/400 drivetrain. Get the rest of it for free!

Can any historian/author here provide insight about CB Pontiacs in this vintage? The new owner of this rare coach is frustrated already not being able to come up with info.

What insight are you looking for, and who might the car's new owner be?

NHAA member bought it and has posted many pics. Parts trove that accompanied is deep, although no landau irons. Like most, I'm sure ultimately he'd like to find the history. Any CB Pontiac morsels would suffice for now. He incorrectly assumes such info can be provided by contacting the string of coach companies CB became.

Given rarity, no mention in MM book of CB Pontiac, etc., seemed like a logical step inquiring here. Between you and Cary I bet there is a vintage photo. Maybe Walt has an idea how many were made.

It appears to have been built out of a station wagon with the roof panel raised, and the rear door added, just like my Chevy. So far, I know that they built this "style" on Chevrolet and Oldsmobile wagon chassis starting in 1961, and Chevrolet and Pontiac in 1962. I have yet to find any 1963 or 1964 examples.

the bars would look like these. cb built on anything they could get there hands on in the early years. will can't up load right now it tells me a jpg is not a authorized file.
