I've noticed that the '59 coaches by PM seem to have been manufactured with, or without the rear lower-quarter (rocker) trim. Were early production ones made without, and later ones with, or was the purchaser able to specify at the time of ordering, just like color or limo/landau?
I own the black '59 Coupe de Fleur with fender trim, and the black '59 Series 75. I am late collecting this series, as when they came out I was in highschool and funds were tight, and credit card access to online ordering limited. :) I am on the hunt for a black '59 landau coach *without* fender trim (personal preference) to complete my little procession, so I can display it at the funeral home. All I've seen on eBay thus far have had the fender trim, so I'm holding out! Any leads, gang? :D
I always wanted to collect the black '59s, but didn't think it would happen until I stumbled on a Kijiji ad 3 weeks ago, with a guy selling his diecast collection. In the background of one of the pics I saw the '59 Sunset Coach flower car box and called right away. In the end, I got the car in mint condition, never displayed for $50.00! He did not have any of the other cars in the series. Next I ordered the '59 Series 75 (black, with the little driver), from diecastauto.com where it's still in stock, and currently on sale!
Two final questions were the flower cars available in other colors, or just the black one I have? And were they only available with the lower fender trim?
Thanks everybody!
