the 63 of Brandon's has a bad set of belt line trim. we though we had found some but it was not the same stuff. this one is the superior body. I can't say on the others but I have discovered that the rear quarter molding on one side is tapered the other is the same width to the rear. so what is right? the factory car is tapered, front and rear. I'm suspecting that some one took one off a 2 dr HT and put it on the right side. the 4 dr one I found is short by about 2 feet. but if it needs to be a taper we could splice it in the front and have it welded and buffed back out. that's what it looks like we are going to have to do to the back doors. were the profile is the same on the moldings 63 and 64 the ends are different on the superior then the GM car. pictures are only a guess. anyone have a car that can look and tell me how the are on it.

we have enough now to cut and splice but the quater has me guessing. I'll get out the calapers and try the left side if it tapers then we'll need one more of them if it's stright we'll look for at least one more door molding.

Hi Ed,

I can send you pictures of my '65 Superior Cadillac moulding.
Mine is not tapered. It is the same width all the way to the end.
Send me a PM with your email address and I can send some pictures if you want.

all I nedd to know if if they were the same size all the way back. we had one of each here. I would thing the same size but I have been suprised to many times on these cars. I think the 5 is diferent trim then the 3-4.
but Larry and Jeramy if you can stop and check out the pile please do so I can get you meserments and a sample to match up if you want. we are not in a pintch on this as of yet thats why we are talking about it now. so no blind hurry. if we can find the same stuff that we can cut and splice to make the size we need we are still good to go.

I don't know if the trip pieces on a '65 are different than the '63's.
I can confirm that the trim on my car is original and is not tapered.

my 63 superior has the stock trim. Its not the same style as the standard Cadillac. It is tapered at the end.

I'm surprised Dave S. didn't have any in his basement full of "Ambulancia." I was able to get a few things from him when I was there in 2008.

He did have some molding but it was for a 67. I am going to call Dave this weekend, he may have more stuff I didn't ask him about.

well we did determine that the quarter molding is tapered same as the car it's just about a foot longer then a 2 dr. the doors are longer then a 4 dr shorter then a 2 so these were made by superior from the caddy stock.

thanks that helps. I was guessing they were tapered like the fleet wood. see yours has both ends at a slant on the doors to.

My guess is that the rear side door had the taper on both ends is because they offered the rear side door hinge configuration both ways.. front or rear opening...

I would guess so to but then why do the front door that way to.(because the could) then they beveled the quarter molding in the front also. just to be different then the car. the moldings are to long for a 4 door and two short for a 2dr. the only one beveled from caddy is the front edge of the rear door on the 4dr. but we have got them piced togather finly.
