I was watching Season One of Emergency and noticed on the suburban ambulance the beacon on the passengers side was yellow but the one over the drivers side was red. I know California has/had a rule where you had to have a solid red light facing forward so the double spot lights fit the bill for that. I thought it strange to have a yellow beacon on an ambulance.

Operators were free to use amber lenses on thier beacons. I ran my ambulance with two reds in the front and a single amber on the rear. It was a lowtop C/B without tunnel lights.
