So last evening I took the 54" to Salem, Ohio for the Quaker City Cruise Weekend Kickoff. There were several hundred cars at this "cruise in" but my car seemed to be a big hit there. A lot of people were fascintated by the car stopping to look inside and a lot of pictures were taken. Well this one couple stopped by and we struck up a conversation about the car. Here she had worked at Gold Cross as a dispatcher the same time I was working out of Alliance Division. Her husband had been a Salem Firefighter but said he "used to run ambulance at Higgins Funeral Home back in the 70s". I immediately asked him if he remembered a certain orange 73 Lifeliner with air horns on the step roof? He did remember they had the 73 and a 71 which sounded like a volunteer with ful vues and a 69. I told him his car still existed and explained to him it was in Smyrna Beach, Florida alive and well and very well cared for. I told him to google Richard Vyse and he should be able to see the old rig he worked out of.

Wow, that is so neat. Did he happen to have any personal pictures of the ambulances? At least you didn't tell me you got to run "Code-3" last night in your rig. :applause:

Nah, that was tonight! So tonight we go back except this time it is in the Poncho and this is same town but a rolling cruise in there has got to be nearly a thousand cars in town and that is no exaggeration cruizin the streets. We kept getting thumbs up, people yelling they love our car and stopping us dead in the street to get a photo and of course no photo is complete without the lights on! Had a great time again tonight :specool:
This is all because of the Steel Valley Nationals at Quaker City Speedway.
