Ford Hearse @ Carlisle Spring Swap Meet

I spied a 1980's Ford Hearse while filling up with gas at Port Jervis in New Jersey on the way to Carlisle, but we were headed in different directions at the time, and I didn't have a camera with me. Tonight I saw the same car coming into the parking lot, and got to talk to the owner. He said that the car is for sale in the Car Corral at Spring Carlisle. If I can find a camera, I will take a picture of it, but no promises.. It appears to be a very nice car. If I have time tomorrow, I will spend some time looking it over. If you are coming to Carlisle, my spaces are IG-14, 15, & 16...

Did he indicate the coachbuilder? Who would likely have done this? Were Thacker and Abbot & Hast active at that time? Or Seibert? BTW, I have stumbled upon a copy of a 1957 Seibert catalogue out in my garage. Umpteen pages with a wide variety of coaches.

Oh, God, Keith, that would take 4ever, even if i knew how to do it. It is about 30 pages. I will see if my wife can send a few pages of it through this thing. I don't know how good the results will be, as what I have is a photocopy, not the original. We will see what we can do. Stay tuned.............( Since selling the '64 to Ron, I have been excavating in my garage, and have turned up lots of forgotten literature, much of which I am giving to him with the car. Just found some M-M limo brochures from when the name was owned by Collins. Have found a little C-B stuff, too. God knows what else is still tucked away out there. )

The Ford hearse could be an Imperial. Jim, if you attended the banquet at the '91 PCS Int'l Meet in Marietta, OH, you may remember Richared Shelly, president of Imperial, was our guest speaker.

Tony, I do remember that Marietta banquet, and have hazy recall of a fellow from some sort of conversion outfit speaking. Is that "Imperial" company still around? Do you remember the kiddie car ambulance parked in with the real ones that a special prize was created for? It belonged to the son of a friend of mine back then from Dayton named Tim Cline. The kid had a siren rigged into it, I seem to recall. Really neat. Long, long ago......................

Abbott & Hast was around and building cars until the mid-80's (as was Thacker) according to Ron, but haven't seen one to tell you how you might be able to tell who did the conversion aside from a tag somewhere.
