What?!? Someone in Tennessee received the issue first! (Or at least posted it first) Unbelievable - the donkeys must have gotten on steroids.... I didn't check my mail, but now I am going to have to run back out and see. I'll have to remember to keep tipping the printer. ONLY KIDDING!

Well mine made it today clear out to Southern California in today's mail. And as others have already posted it's GREAT!!!... and especially liked the JFK M-M Combination Article with new details I hadn't seen or heard about before THANKS TOM McP!

Getting this incredible (on-time) publication is also a reality check for me of the way that the PCS has rebounded from a year or so when all the negative (and unfounded) things were floating around. MM

just like they all said dido. glad we are back on track and very glad that the web side can be as positive in the club as it is. did you notice that the web side paid for this publication. wonder how we can do that? it never happened before. do lets drop that thought and just marvel at how far we have come.;) so thank you Paul ,Dan, Tony and Robert for funding one more great publication for us. thank the committee for cranking out one more hit.

This sucks. I have been stuck in the hospital since Tuesday and I cant see mine, and now I know its sitting in the mailbox.
I just found out today the hospital provides a laptop and internet for free so at least I can get on the site now. 3 days without being here is way to long.

Seems it takes abought 3 weeks to get to me once it hits the mail boxes in the US. Now i can't read anymore posts about the contents...don't want to spoil the suprise.

The new TPC hasn't hit Ohio yet either. Hopefully you're feeling better soon. It's good that you can at least get on the message board for entertainment now.

John: For whatever reason you've landed in a hospital, we hope you're doing ok. You should have plenty of fellow car buffs around there who - instead of stopping at a newsstand to get you a magazine - could swing by your house and grab the magazine you really want!

And what another great issue this is! Thanks to all who made contributions and to Walt, Brady, and George for their continued hard work and dilligence.

Having grown up around small town funeral service where my dad's philosophy has always been "give back to the community that supports you," I am very pleased and honored to be a member of the Website Oversight Committee. Instead of merely providing a place for the exchange of ideas, information, and photos, we've accomplished our goal of giving back to you, the members, who support the site, in more ways that what is expected. Our thanks to YOU for the support, trust, and enthusiasm.

Christie was going to pick it up today but the post office was still closed when she had to leave for work. I live in a very small town and all mail goes to a P.O. box.
As for my health, I am still alive.. LOL. As most know I have VERY sever asthma and even springtime allergies can get life threatining, so here I am again....
Didnt mean to hijack this post but figured I would let a little into my hospital stay.

Thanks, I wish I was leaving. May still be a few days. The only plus is I have very very slow dialup at home and this high speed wireless is awsome. (I know Im way behind the times but where I live its surprising I get that) Its so great being able to see the pics people post, usually I cannot see most of them.

Arrived here today - OUTSTANDING!!!!! Incredible center fold (and wife approved). Thanks for a great issue.

John, pray you get home soon. Dialup at home is better that highspeed in the hospital. Take care.

Just got back from the Volunteer meet in Tennessee. We had a great time. There were a couple of number 135s there. If 135 is in the Carolinas and Tennessee, Georgia how is it not in Ohio? The expectation is getting to us here.
It will be read from cover to cover as soon as the mail person gets done with it.

Finally got released from the hospital yesterday afternoon and had a chance to read the TPC this morning. Great issue as usual, and looks like they are getting thicker too!!
I would like to make a small correction though. The steam powered hearse was photographed by me, not Patrick Martin, although he was with me when these very unusual vehicles were sighted (he was the first one to notice them). They were in a off limits storage area of the museum collection and we were lucky to gain access to check them out up close. It was very hard to get shots as they are black and they were in a very dim lit room also painted black. Out of the aprox 50 shots I took only about 6 or 7 are good enough quality to be seen, and thats with alot of enhancing them.
I hope some day we will be able to find out something on these coaches, where and why they were built, as none of us have ever seen anything like this before.

I was asked to investigate this slow delivery of our magazine to our fine members living in Ohio... After exhaustive research, I learned the reason....

•Ohio is listed as the 17th state in the U.S., but technically it is number 47. Until August 7, 1953, congress forgot to vote on a resolution to admit Ohio to the Union.

Still waiting in Northern Illinois. Do these magazines get mailed out at the same time when they are ready to be released or does a 1/4 of them go out today some tomorrow and more three days later?

Paul Steinberg
04-16-2010, 10:55 PM
Bulk mailings are packed in groups based on the zip codes that they are going to. The entire groupings are dropped at a postal distribution center, and are then sent from there to the various regional distribution centers. From the Regional distribution center, they are sorted, and then sent to the individual post office that handle the town where you live for delivery. Since this is a bulk magazine mail delivery, it moves slowly, based on how much room is on the truck that is carrying it forward. If the truck is full of 1st class and other higher paying postage mail, then magazines are held over for the next truck. There is never a reason that can be determined why one area will get the magazine sooner than the next area, because it never is consistent. Every area of the country has delays, and some are longer than others. Once it gets to the local post office, they sort bulk mail only after all the 1st class mail is sorted. This can add a day or two to the process. The only solution to this problem that I can see is to have magazines delivered by 1st class mail at additional cost to the member requesting this feature. I intend to bring this up for discussion at the annual board meeting. If it goes to a 1st class mailing, that will have to be an extra cost option over and above membership dues. Many car clubs offer this feature to their members, and I can't see why we shouldn't either. What the cost difference will be, I can't say, but my guess is that it might be an additional $5.00 - $7.00 per year. Some of these additional costs will be in packaging and separate handling costs, and the balance will be the additional postage.

Hah, Mike-glad I added to your vocabulary! My dad was an avid reader and always throwing words around to make us ask or look them up in the dictionary. That and hanging around lots of English professors in college and since have kept up my love of language, I guess.

I heard there was a mailing house error where the postage label got stuck over the mailing address for those outside the US.

Hold tight I guess. We will get them.

I spoke to Brady about this today, and he has confirmed that the postage was put over the address label. Some postal authorities have realized the mistake and have opened the plastic wrapper and have forwarded the magazine to the address on the mailing label. Brady told me that the publisher was doing a separate printing of the magazine and resending it to all the International Members. When you get your copy, please post the information to this thread, so we can track how long it takes to be delivered...
