So I removed this awfully ugly hood ornament the previous owner put on and found it was not stuck on with adhesive as I suspected but was DRILLED through the hood.

Offhand the two options that come to mind is to sand out the rust on the hole and put some body filler on the hole. I dont have the means to weld for cheap.

The other option is to buy a classic Cadillac ornament and bolt it there. Not ideal since there was not originally a hood ornament there from the factory, but a caddy ornament might be better than a gaping hole.

What would you all recommend?

Perfect hole for mounting a set of steer horns.

If you have an aversion to horns, stick a playing card on the bottom and fill with JB Weld.

I'd prefer it to look original, but thats not a bad idea with the JB weld to at least plug the hole

You could fiberglass the hole, better than jb weld. If I was you I'd just put a rubber grommet there like this. https://i.imgur.com/9GMdWhq.jpg

Fill the hole. Waaaay too many Cads out there already with hood ornaments that don't belong on them.

That is the plan, but due to my repair budget going over, its going to be awhile until I can paint it. So until then I might see how a cad ornament looks, then when im ready to paint remove it so its factory
