MotoExotica (dealer) selling a seldom seen 54 Chevrolet Ambulance by National.
Claims connection to Howard Hughes but, no proof. (you, of course, remember the Buick that sold for heavenly money at B-J Auction, so they must be trying to glean off that). Looks average cond. VIN D54N029217 Made from Sedan Delivery. Bidding starts at $5000 with a reserve.

Full body build, not a sedan delivery conversion.

Have heard that story before on a way more original National.

Full body build, not a sedan delivery conversion.

Just quoting the advertiser and, apparently, the body builder, per se. Mr Steve.
"When converting a Chevrolet Sedan Delivery, furnished to us by customer, into a NATIONAL Combination Hearse & Ambulance, we extend the unit 30″ and install 43″ doors on each side, build in one recessed attendant’s seat, furnish shades, cot holder, choice of ...blah, blah"

that one would be a sedan delivery . national was the only one that did raise the roof of theirs. so that it was more then just a cut and splice.

The radial tires and Federal Q look ridiculous!
