your a braver man then me. I have heard from reliable sources that the shaft bushings are valve guide sleeves. which Oldsmobile is that one off

You did something wrong then. Its common knowledge GM threw a couple extra parts on, or in, every Quadrajet just to confound shade-tree mechanics.

Off Of the 72,The float sunk so I re did it with a brass float.

You might as well throw that carb in the trash, it will never work right. Don't you know you need at least two parts left over that you do not have a clue as to what they go to?

I just toss the extras in the trunk .:)
