There are several of these cars around. At least three "projects" have been for sale on eBay over the past two years. Two more are owned by collectors and are occasionally seen at car events.

I would like to see one of them restored; perhaps as a original USAF rig, or maybe as how a funeral home or private service might have outfitted one if they had bought it at auction and placed it in service. (Sometimes these government ambulances were surplused and sold after only a few years and with very low miles.)

This one appears to have its original heavy duty alternator.

I would also like to see one of these restored. What a cool looking ambulance!

Another in marginally better condition is available (unadvertised as best I know) in NC for slightly more.

There IS a '59 Memphian Dodge high top being restored in WV currently. Met owner at Asheville hearse meet earlier this month, who showed progress pics. Already been painted and going back together. He plans on taking it to '14 Asheville meet.

If I had the the $ for the it and the shipping I would be all over it. Very cool car. Wildest hearse I've ever seen.

Years ago, in Bloomington, IL, the ambulance service I worked for had picked up one of these to use as first car unit for the local funeral homes. When the weather was BITTER COLD, the Dodge was the ONLY car that started!

Does anyone have any photos of one in good condition ?

First time I have ever seen one as far as I can remember.

If you can post one here, please do !

Thank you,
Darren
