I'm familiar with this car. Once owned by Josh Gentry and in service until early 2000's at a colored funeral firm in Lebanon, TN. Originally white over blue and bought new and operated by the J. Avery Bryan Funeral Home, Chattanooga, Tennessee.

At $3,500, you would think that he would find the time to put the skirts and wheel covers back on it and give it a bath! Not a bad looking car, just really poor marketing!! Also, I believe that the PC term would be "black".

I know there was no disrespect intended,a lot of folks in the south still say "colored". I personally don't understand why many black folks get upset if you don't call them "african americans". they don't call me an irish/german/french american.Anybody born in this country is an AMERICAN!!:893USA-Smilie-thumb

By the way, nice car, well worth saving!

Well said. I know Jeremy and know he did not mean any disrespect for saying that. As Denny said, I know where he lives and it is very comon language there.

and of course I did not either. the PC crowd can eat my shorts. to me it's a chuckle the term colored. which of course is one I never grew up hearing on the street only in writing. to me it conjures up images of red, blue, green and yellow. same as the term native American. but hay I'm a native American. I worked for a man who told me to him that was the worse thing he had ever been called. to him, he was born a Indian, lived a Indian and would die a Indian. the day we can admit that we don't trust people that look act and talk different then we do is the day we can finale learn to get along.

There is nothing derogatory about the terms colored, black, or Negro.

There are plenty of things wrong with trying to be politically correct.

Let's leave this thread to the '71 M-M, and take any other issues to this one:

That is almost worth a trip to Nashville. I am familiar with the old J. Avery Bryan Funeral Home. It has been merged with some others and is now owned by SCI and operated as Advantage Funeral Service in the old McCallie Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Homes. Very nice folks and the manager like these old cars I may have to pass the info along to him.

I know, and I have them both here. The timing is just awful, still I keep thinking that I will go look at it before it becomes the attraction at some haunted house or is turned into an advertising piece......or worse....

Wheel covers are not but the landau bars are correct for a 1971 M-M. They didn't introduce the curved landau bar till 1972 and kept it till 1976. From my research this seems to be a one year landau bar.
