1964 Cadillac Ambulance/Hearse - $7000 (Sandusky)

Date: 2012-09-02, 10:46AM EDT

1964 Cadillac/Superior Coach, ambulance/hearse combo. The vehicle is in amazing, original shape. The paint, tires, interior, engine, cot, siren, light are all original though beginning to show some of their age. With a few pumps of the gas pedal it starts up and runs great. The motor is a 340 horsepower, 429 Cadillac motor that runs quiet and smooth. It has the Hydromatic transmission. Odometer has actual miles. Rear end gear ratio is 377. All glass is in good shape and windows all roll down and up. All doors open/close with ease and seal tightly. We have taken this to numerous local car shows.

All equipment in the ambulance will be included. This consists of the cot, some ems equipment, and the brackets that would hold a casket in place. The interior is in amazing shape. There are no tears in the cloth, all seats have good cushioning, even the curtains are intact. Floors in front and back are in good condition also.

The ambulance is very solid underneath. There are some dings and scratches on it but nothing very bad. The scratch on the right side is the worst of the damage. It has been garage kept all its life. I believe the right tail light needs a new bulb. My father and I are the third owners of this ambulance. The first being the funeral home that actually ran this vehicle as the ambulance/hearse for their community. I know I have probably left some info out so if you have any questions please call or text me. My name is Dan 419-656-9640. The vehicle is located in Sandusky, Ohio 44870 and I encourage you to come and look at it. I am a full time firefighter so there are times I may not answer, please leave a message. NOTE we will only sell this to someone who is going to take care of and appreciate it! I have more pictures available that I can e mail if wanted. Thank You.

I've only seen a handful of limo style Superior Sovereigns, lacking corner glass with a small rear loading door window. Bill Marcy, this combo really isn't that far from you. ;)

This coach belongs to a friend of mine, Mike used to work for me years ago and his son Dan is a good friend of Brad. I've seen this coach and can vouch for the condition it's in. I'll be happy to help anybody who is interested in it.

If it were 6 months from now I would own it myself.

Edit: As I recall, the skirt on the 173 Beacon Ray is in pretty rough shape, however that is easy to take care of.

you would think he could at least replace the tail light bulb.

This coach looks and sounds to be well worth the asking price. I would grab this one in a minute if i had the money.

Although the timing {and money situation} could be better, I am interested in this car. I have spoken to the owner and he sounds like a genuinely nice guy and I know Russell said he would vouch for the owners and I respect that. But, my wife wants to look at it. We really don't have the time to go and look, so I thought I would ask if anybody here could put a set of eyes on it for me.

I am awaiting some pictures. Maybe, if it is meant to be, we may buy it.

Thanks in advance for any help, or info.

you would think he could at least replace the tail light bulb.

On some of these older coaches, replacing the tail lamp bulb is a major undertaking. I can see why the present owner doesn't want to get into it, and will leave it for the next owner to handle. If it were easy, I am certain that the owner would have done it instead of mentioning it in the advertisement.

Very true! I think it was my 66 Superior that you had to drop the bumper to change it!

One of the most historically significant - and private - collections of '59 Cadillac resides in the very same city of Sandusky. The owner (same as '59 Broadmoor that debuted restored, late July in Detroit) has now offered to help be an educated set of unbiased eyes for anyone seriously interested.

This would look good next to my 64 M-M combo would it not? This car may have to stay in Ohio where it belongs.

Although I was very interested in this car and wanted to buy it, unfortunately I missed it. Had I been ready at the time it came up, it may have been mine. But, the seller had a local buyer, who was ready and he now owns it. I am not disappointed though, sometimes things are not meant to be. Perhaps I will get the next one, who knows.

I would like to thank Russell Street for going to look at and drive the car for me. Russell said the car is SWEET and he would like to have bought it himself. Russell is a good example of the kind of people we have in the PCS. Thanks again Russell, I appreciate what you did for me.

Yep, it is home to her new home. I have sent some pictures to Paul and maybe he can share some of them here. It is a pretty sweet ride, needs a little bit of this and a little bit of that, but a good solid car, handled real well. She will be at the picnic Sunday.

Congradulations... I hope that this car has good tires on it!! You might have sent pictures, but they are lost in the mail. Did you put enough stamps on them?? I'm headed to work, so it will be later today before anyone will see this car if and when the pictures arrive..

I would be happy to help out and take that Seville off your hands. I know just how it is when you have to many cars around the house.

It would appear the Seville will be returning to it's previous owner, Maple-Cotton Funeral Home of Kensington, Ohio. I have not seen the money yet, but that is the current plan.
